What gift cards do you want to see?

I'd like to make suggestions to AARP Rewards about what we members would be interested in seeing so please post.

I would like Kentucky Fried Chicken

This may be a long shot, but I would be interested in gift cards for Lululemon or Patagonia and willing to purchase $50 or $100 gift cards at discount if offered as one of the Daily Deals.   AARP used to offer REI gift cards,  and wish REI could be offered again.

I think it’s fun to use whatever points I’ve earned to use towards a gift card.  I appreciate the restaurant ones.  Chilis, IHOP, etc.  I wouldn’t buy any for purchase, but only use points.  So for me I’d say those type of sit down restaurants for redemption with points

Now Karyn @Karyn8 , unless you are really new to all this, AARP is going to offer what they want to.

Over the years other members have done this (posted what you did) = nothing changes.

Does anyone know how AARP obtains these Giftcards? Buy them or are they donated to them?

HAPPY Friday Everyone!!!

Nicole!

Nicole, not sure why you wrote this to Karyn, who's been an AARP Community Member for 10.5+ years and has hundreds of posts AND hundreds of Kudos...

She's posted what many of us have posted since the beginning of this year; particularly why so many points-only last for months but popular only flash once in a while (every other month or so).

I was taken a little aback but all's well and good. AARP might look at these suggestions and might act on them if possible but they can't if they don't know what we look for. I do know you never get anything without asking so what's the harm? This coming week I see the daily deals are 30% off which is a major improvement. I never would buy a $25 gift card for $20 because why tie up $20 cash for a $5 gift card you could get with points thus keeping $20 in your pocket.

In my opinion the points are easy to accumulate and at 7500 X 30 days = 225,000 one can earn in a month that covers any 3 redemptions so I don't worry about using a large amount of points for something like Amazon. I have suggested on every survey from AARP they increse members redemptions to  FOUR per month.

Thanks Karyn @Karyn8 , I was NOT familiar with your posts & DIDNOT check your AARP Profile to "check" on how many "kudos" you got or the "helpful" posts you have done. It is GOOD Denese @WebWiseWoman does & posted her APPRECIATION. In ending, at age 67 I let folks live THEIR lives THEIR way = if you believe AARP "cares" = I respect this & once again, good luck with all this!!!  👍  Take care my friend, Nicole!

Walmart, Target, Amazon are gift cards that most people can use.

I also like Petsmart, Petco, Barnes and Noble, and Panera.  Panera has lovely breads!

I really cain’t understand all the excitement over these $5 gift cards (COUPONS). You only have 3 redemptions and AARP makes sure you can’t use all three at one time. All of these $5 cards is just a ploy to get you to spend more money (that we seniors don’t have) to purchase their products.

IDK but I am not about to waste my points that way when I can at least spend them on a chance with the Instant Wins.

Forget sweepstakes, that’s a joke.
On the subject of Instant Wins, AARP offers (most of the time, oops) 7 instant wins per day paying out a total of 200 wins for each.

200 x 7 = 1400 wins @$10 each is only a measly $14,000 dollars. That’s less then pocket change with this bunch. Truth be known, they probably don’t award all 200 wins on each gift card pocketing the difference.

Nothing is going to change for the better with this program, only getting worse by the day.

The program has decreased in value considerably over the past year, I agree. It's easy to make enough points for the three redemptions and do the instant wins. I have suggested many times on their surveys to give us paying members four redemptions. Lately they have put up more then one of the same gift certificate so you can accumulate several of the same store but when you try to use them online most stores only allow you to use 2 on an order but if you go in person you get to use more then 2.

I would like to see many more $10 certificates and super instant wins like before when they gave 400-500 winners.

The decline from the beginning of the program is staggering.   I'd stay up to midnight and get three $20 cards on the extra credit.   $5 is not worth losing a good night's sleep.   Value has declined from $60 to $15 plus anything you're lucky enough to win on the instant wins.  75% reduced value, more glitches, shutdowns, etc.   I used to recommend the program to friends but it's really not worth the time involved.  I do like to play the games so I continue.
