Reward Moments: Favorite Redemption in 2025?

What was your favorite AARP Rewards redemption this year?

I enjoy when there is an Amazon gift card left to redeem. Unfortunately, only happened about 3 times this year.  Used to like when you could redeem points for things like wine glasses.

I like the ulta gift cards and used to like the Olive Garden.

Don't have any favorite.  Would like it if you would offer more magazines to select from.  Magazines that are down to earth like Taste of Home, Good Housekeeping, gardening magazine. The ones you offer are not really geared to the older generation. Thanks for looking into this.

many of the mags on this site can be obtained free.  Just google free mags and sign up.  You may not get the exact mag you want and you may have to wait a while before the one you want shows up but many mags are available absolutely free.  I have been doing this for a long time and never pay a cent.  The ones I get that I am not interested in are given to others or used for art projects.  Try Mercury and Blue Dolphin sites.

Although costly in points, I enjoyed redeeming points for the TJ Maxx gift cards. At $5.00 each, I was able to use them to buy a few $4.97 large bottles of Dr. Teal’s epsom salt bubble bath for myself, my daughters and my Mom. I also tried the ThredUp $10 one and traded up some clothes I was no longer wearing for a new Land’s end rain jacket and a pair of comfy Athleta pants. It’s fun to earmark the rewards for discounts on specific

items.

I was very disappointed that I was not able to get a decent gift card with my points that I'd earned. To spend hundreds of the points to get a $10 card is ridiculous.

Absolutely nothing. My mom and I are trying to figure out exactly what it is we're getting other than the 548 life insurance offers Ive received in the mail since I joined. She's been a member longer than I have and other than constant mail from life and car insurance companies (and the car insurance is higher than we have without AARP connections...) we honestly have been asking ourselves why exactly we're spending the money. No restaurant gives any discounts based on AARP memberships here, and we have been asking ourselves why we're paying for nothing but mail we have to throw out.

I am trying to see what I get for my money... lots of email I don't look at. I get all these points but have no idea what to do with them.

Hi @KristinaC862509

Have you tried the earn points section on the site here where you answer ridiculously easy quizzes or watch videos?  Play some games, watch videos and answer quizzes.

Those points can be redeemed for gift cards without using any cash.  I’ve gotten several Amazon, Walmart, and many restaurant gift cards all using points for gift cards that I earned doing these incredibly simple tasks.  Doing that alone, it has more than payed for membership.  I take the sweepstakes and instant wins lightly and only burn points if I’ve got a bunch banked and want to toss them for fun.  Otherwise, points only for gift cards is the way to go for me.

Not working for me and AARP hasn't been able to fix it in over a month.

My favorite rewards have been the two $10 cards for Walmart for points given as gifts this year that I gave yesterday!.  And the various restaurants and Amazon cards as well for points. Stacking restaurant cards has been fun when going out to dinner.

I'm pretty much over the whole rewards thing. Too many glitches this year with the site down for a long time, games that are supposed to provide rewards that don't, people who seem not to care when contacted by chat or phone, and the increase in points needed to redeem for anything without raising the maximum numbers of points that can be earned in a day. I do some of the games because they are fun and if I have any points I might redeem for a sweepstakes or instant win but in all the years I've been doing this I've only won one thing.  My time is too precious to waste on this non-rewarding rewards.

That is it exactly. Well said.

Perfectly said.  Then they expire your earned points.  I don’t see ant honest reason for that. If they don’t stop “playing” games, I would not renew my membership

Amazon and Walmart cards up now for points.  Don’t want ‘em?  Others will

I really want to like this app and am hoping to find a favorite redemption. So far, I've only accidentally lost points when attempting to get more information about an offer. Would be nice if there was a check before points were deducted.

There's a $5 Amazon eGift card for 28,000 still available (since 25-Dec-2025) Members Only. If it doesn't show up in filtered search, try searching just for the word amazon.

My best AARP redemption was for Home Depot.  I used towards an item for my son, and lowered the cost.
