During the 26 years being a member, I've entered a lot of the contests, but  never won, but I keep trying. Larry Teig

you mean there are people on this site who actually still have an account to work with that have not been flagged for supposedly fraud even though no proof and all the points went bye bye?

trying to find three things each month starting usually on the first is not easy especially when every month remember every month not just now and then but every month on the first no matter how hard you try and no matter what aarp says , those extra credit things mess up and you cannot redeem for them until maybe the next day when of course they are all gone.  aarp are you listening?  there are serious flaws ont he first of every month with your system.  Lost out on the walgreens for this and do not put much faith in ever getting the better rewards that sell out faster than ever.  I guess those 18 year old members have figured out a way to get them first.  aarp used to stand for association of american retired people or something like that now it is every person for themselves since it certainly is not for all.

Not 18 โ€ฆand seeing a pattern when the cards are given out isnโ€™t too hard to predict.  Persistence was key for me. Also too, paying attention to the discussion post thread titled,  โ€œAvailable Gift Card Discussionโ€ where some members spot cards as they see them and post about it, helps as well.  Iโ€™ve gotten Amazon, Walmart and several restaurant gift cards for points by doing this.  watch the thread I mentioned.

It feels disrespectful (of Members' time & efforts) to me for AARP to fail to verify that their Extra Credit reward activities on the 1st of each month actually work.  They need bigger denomination points-only rewards if they insist on limiting redemptions to 3 per month.  The desirable rewards (Amazon, grocery, drug or hardware stores, etc.) get snapped up incredibly quickly.  Instead of the AARP Rewards Program being a fun, interesting activity it often becomes a source of annoyance.

Wish I had one but after years of trying I've yet to win anything.  Are these total hype or do they really exist????

Yep, same here, I have lots of points, but have yet to win anything, so what

is the point of trying.

Reward this year?!  How about reward ever?! I have used my points for hundreds of 'prizes' and what

do I have?  Nothing. I don't know why I keep playing.

Through all of the many years and hundreds of contests entered with AARP, I have never won anything. Discourging!

I try to purchase the Home Depot or Lowe's gift cards from noon to 2pm when they are offered at a discount and they are immediately sold out at noon.  All the bots must buy them up.  Maybe from noon to 2pm let members enter their name into a drawing if they are interested.  Then Email them that they won the drawing and can purchase the discounted gift card if still interested.  Any suggestions on how to beat the bots and keep these great offerings within the membership?

Donโ€™t try to buy them. Use points only when they come up throughout the day

Not a bot here.  Look at the Available Gift Card Discussion thread when people spot the cards for points.  I wonโ€™t buy cards for money, only get free cards for points

How do I find that thread?

I do both - Redeem points for gift cards and purchase $25 gift cards at a discount for $20 during those noon to 2pm time offerings.  I think they are both nice membership perks.

Didnโ€™t win a thing. Scam?

Well I can tell you the worst was $500 for a Royal Caribbean giftcard that can't be used on the ship.  Just a useless piece of paper sitting on my desk.

[Saturday 12/20/25]

@AARPTeri , another favorite as of now is the $10 Amazon eGiftcard. Lol, I cannot remember IF I won it or used points to obtain (old). ๐Ÿ˜‚ I NEVER "buy" them = fixed Retirement Income.

Anyway, I had fractured my ankle on black ice 12/6/25 & had to give up my regular shower routine.

Yes, the shower stool that needed a "hand-held" shower head with a VERY long cord. Had been getting "sponge baths" from my Home Care Crew.

Had my xrays yesterday (they were NOT sure IF surgery would be needed = nope, healing well in my "festive" caste) & looking forward to the arrival of my EARLY Christmas gift to ME. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Had forgotten about this eGiftcard.

Well, using it right now to order = ZERO cost & FREE shipping (Prime Subscription).

I "is" smiling!!! ๐Ÿ’ƒ

Starbucks $5 GC, as well as LL Bean and Lands End.

For money, I liked the 10% off Amtrak GC.

I agree that Rewards has gotten stingy. So many of the options for digital downloads of greeting cards. I can get the same on the internet.

My favorite was the exceedingly rare $10 Amazon gift card for points, which I only saw twice and was lucky to redeem for once.

I think maybe the $5 Burger King gift card using points.  I can load it on the app right away.  It's ready for me.

AARP is pretty stingy with their offers now.  thousands of points for hardly the value of usually $5
