Where Is That Technology When One Needs It ?

We have

  • cars that run on electricity and can come when beckoned -
  • We have driverless big rigs.
  • We have ubers and lyfts without drivers.
  • We have homes that turn on and off lights when one goes into or leaves the room
  • We have AI that is suppose to answer almost any question 🥴
  • We have rocket ships that leave earth and then return to their own parking spots
  • We have wireless internet

But to my dismay - we do not have a trash can that can drive itself to the street, wait for trash pickup and then drive back to the house.  Now when that trip is up a hill almost 250’ or for some, longer - When one gets up in age, this is a feat.  There is no tech anywhere to be found even though a robotic arm truck does pick up the trash, requiring only the truck driver.

Consider this a call to action all you geeks out there - Be The 1st to invent it.

Geez Gail, sadly we simply don’t have the technology yet to fill this need.

However, I can envision it - a little disc attached to a wheeled trash can cart that could be programmed by your phone….

A couple of perhaps silly suggestions.  *Maybe ask your handyman if he knows of anyone - perhaps a teen - who drives by your house to and from work?  It would only involve perhaps ten minutes of that individual’s time once a week.

*My friend uses a golf cart to place and then retrieve her trash containers because her driveway is also very long, but she has many other uses for it as well - such as carrying items to the far pastures.  I realize it would be ridiculous to purchase one just for this sole purpose.

*Place an ad in a weekly Church Bulletin - that audience would be very responsive, and I believe that such a posting is relatively safe in that, at least in my situation, it is not public.

     Good luck!

That would be an invention for sure!

Maybe some area kid could make a few weekly bucks taking cans down and back to houses.

@SereneSeagull

Alas,  the “kids” have all grown up and have left to make their fortunes elsewhere - They did their part while they were here but of course, I, and the the rest of my neighbors, were MUCH younger at that time so the trip up the hill every Thursday wasn’t an issue then.

Even the [neighbor] uncle that was foster-caring his (5) nieces and nephews (ages 4 - 16) has now relinquished this task since the Dad stepped up and are all doing well with some help.

Oh, my yard guy or my neighbor with the golf cart takes the can up the hill occasionally and always when asked - just trying to find technology changes that add to life rather than taking away a job with my wish.

Thanks anyway for the suggestion.
