Well, I donโ€™t get it - and I havenโ€™t heard anything about the others getting this kind of treatment. Hey us โ€œolder galsโ€ need heroes too - I commend her for doing it and happy that she did.

To your 2nd point - that only works IF the thread doesnโ€™t get too long and then everything gets messed up because all post that go over the max limit of a response defaults back to the OP.

Just want people to know who I am responding to with my reply.

To the 1st point - I donโ€™t understand why people are coming down on Gayle King for her participation in this event.  I havenโ€™t heard anything about the other participants being admonished.

and I donโ€™t understand why people are even coming down on her for this event.  It was remarkable for all of them but since I am about her age (but older) I think it was GREAT.

You must have missed it about that singer. She caught some flack at her concert. As far as King, she called herself an astronaught  (sp) and all she did was sit there and just hold on, no training or anything and I think that made people mad.

All I say about it is these people are "poking the bear" like those did that were on that trip to the Titanic. It's not about IF, it's WHEN.

I did not know that Katy Perry also got flack.  Yes, I think the astronaut word was a bit over the top but I donโ€™t think that is all that people were coming down on Gayle King for -

Coming from a person that isnโ€™t keen on even rollercoasters or other higher speed amusement rides - I still think they had โ€œballsโ€ for doing it .  I would love to do it but I am afraid the exhilarating  excitement would be too much for me.

The wonderful Gayle King is 70, so think age isn't an issue; health and physical capability more likely to qualify or not.

I'd go in a NY minute but couldn't afford ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yea - I guess this time around it was for those of any age but who had clout or money or celebrity-hood or you personally knew the founder real well.

The Tourist this time around for those who might have missed it -

Perry and King, who co-hosts "CBS Mornings," were on the latest launch Monday morning of the New Shepard, which is also used in uncrewed scientific missions. Also on the flight was civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, filmmaker Kerianne Flynn and Lauren Saฬnchez, an Emmy Award-winning journalist who is also Bezos' fianceฬe.

They called them โ€œthe crewโ€ in the article - seems more like space tourist would have been more accurate - I donโ€™t think they needed to do any โ€œcrewingโ€.

It was still amazing and it looks like a real thrill for those who like to live fast and wild.  Wonder if I still am ?  ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

I still have many years ahead of Gayle King - but good for her.

Have to disagree with you; these people represent many facets of life and that opens another for us, just general people... sorry you don't get that...

Did you hear about all this backlash to Gayle King on her flight on the Blue Origin.  Unbelievable IMO -

NewsNation 04/23/2025 - Gayle Kingโ€™s popularity plummets after Blue Origin flight

What is the price of a ticket?  You think โ€œgeneralโ€ people will be able to take a ride on the Blue Origin any time soon?

Your right about that crew term. I don't think it had a steering wheel or any buttons to push.

I think Capt. Kirk is still the oldest to go?

If I went I would want to at least go around the world at least once.

Your age does not matter. It's how much money you have or who you know. About half of the people these flights go for free because they know someone.

If one of you get lucky, take lots of pictures.

To answer your question, yes, but I want to be on the one that just landed, not the next one on the pad.
