This video actually recalls the nightmare of the new year's blizzard of 2022 here in VA.  That's when hundreds of motorists got trapped on I-95 for hours right here in my county.  We were without power and water (well -- electric pump) for five days.  The damage was devasting around here.  An electric pole snapped and blocked access on the only road out of here.  People stuck on our side would drive to the blockage and hand off gas cans to peeps on the other side to go get fuel for generators.

The shed furkids have heated beds (which will be useless if we lose power), but keeping fresh water instead of ice blocks is an ongoing operation.  If I could get them to come inside, I would.

I am NOT looking forward to tonight.

I just read the VACO report that you provided.  Looking at the recommendations, I would hope that theyโ€™ve pretreated your roads, that all hands in the critical agencies are โ€œon deckโ€, and that non-essential vehicles stay off the roads.
Snow is bad enough, but as soon as I hear โ€œiceโ€ or โ€œwintry mixโ€ I worry.  I donโ€™t think many of us in this stormโ€™s path will sleep well tonight.  I canโ€™t believe that I actually felt relieved when I saw that the temp will โ€œonlyโ€ drop down to 8 degrees tonight instead of dipping into negative numbers yet again.

I hope that you and your furrbabies in the shed do not lose power.

Thanks for sharing that video.  Wow!

          โ€ฆ.and I must add - poor little Goldie! ๐Ÿ’œ

I am very relieved that we are getting a foot to a foot and a half of snow with only โ€œan icy glazeโ€. (Thatโ€™s a NWS quote.) Yet, like you, Iโ€™ve been giving my neighborโ€™s tall pine trees a critical side eye! ๐Ÿง

Our lows are in the single digits for the next ten days and our highs are nowhere near 32 degrees, so itโ€™s a โ€œwatch that your pipes donโ€™t freeze and haul out the roof rakeโ€ week!

Take care Gail and everyone in the path of this storm.

I don't think ours had the pad. I remember standing up in it and rocking back and forth and jumping out Of course sometimes there was a turn over and sometimes there was a butt warming.

On the other side, if you saw grandma sitting in it with her Bible you knew something bad was happening.

It made the best ice cream in the world. I always hated when people would add fruit. Just give me a big ole bowl, a spoon and here comes brain freeze.

Peaches were the first add in followed by fruit cocktail. Me, just give me the plain.

Sure wish I had some.

I just had to share this with everyone!

Check out not only the cars, but the clothes!  Bell bottoms! Cords!  And what appears to be a poncho!     Good times.

(Iโ€™ve driven down this street (Lombard) - itโ€™s the touristy thing to do at least once in San Francisco.)

   Another Boomer here!

โ€ฆ.and remember when, after you turned that old CRT TV off, there would be that tiny white light in the middle of the screen that would slowly fade until โ€œPoof!โ€ โ€ฆ. it was gone!

A group of us were sitting around chatting about our favorite Christmas gifts from long ago, and these popped up into the conversation.  I had hours of fun with colorforms!

Can you imagine trying to place this in the hands of kids now?  The kids who are used to video games, and phones?

I loved Colorforms!  Such a simple concept to keep creative thinking alive in a child.

If you had a Sonic near you, do you remember these trinkets they put on drink cups? They discontinued them due to choking hazard. I loved those things.

Didnโ€™t have a Sonic around me growing up.  The giraffe pictured here, however, reminded me of getting a Shirley Temple drink and having what i vaguely remember as a plastic giraffe drink stirrer in it.  Felt very grown up while the adults had their cocktails.  ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I remember those!  Zoo Piks!  I had a lot of monkeys, but only one giraffe!  Funny how silly little simple things like these could amuse us for hoursโ€ฆ.

Did you have one of these. Used to cost 20 cents. Lasted about 30 minutes.
