This video actually recalls the nightmare of the new year's blizzard of 2022 here in VA. That's when hundreds of motorists got trapped on I-95 for hours right here in my county. We were without power and water (well -- electric pump) for five days. The damage was devasting around here. An electric pole snapped and blocked access on the only road out of here. People stuck on our side would drive to the blockage and hand off gas cans to peeps on the other side to go get fuel for generators.
The shed furkids have heated beds (which will be useless if we lose power), but keeping fresh water instead of ice blocks is an ongoing operation. If I could get them to come inside, I would.
I am NOT looking forward to tonight.

I just read the VACO report that you provided. Looking at the recommendations, I would hope that theyโve pretreated your roads, that all hands in the critical agencies are โon deckโ, and that non-essential vehicles stay off the roads.
Snow is bad enough, but as soon as I hear โiceโ or โwintry mixโ I worry. I donโt think many of us in this stormโs path will sleep well tonight. I canโt believe that I actually felt relieved when I saw that the temp will โonlyโ drop down to 8 degrees tonight instead of dipping into negative numbers yet again.
I hope that you and your furrbabies in the shed do not lose power.

Thanks for sharing that video. Wow!
โฆ.and I must add - poor little Goldie! ๐
I am very relieved that we are getting a foot to a foot and a half of snow with only โan icy glazeโ. (Thatโs a NWS quote.) Yet, like you, Iโve been giving my neighborโs tall pine trees a critical side eye! ๐ง
Our lows are in the single digits for the next ten days and our highs are nowhere near 32 degrees, so itโs a โwatch that your pipes donโt freeze and haul out the roof rakeโ week!
Take care Gail and everyone in the path of this storm.

I don't think ours had the pad. I remember standing up in it and rocking back and forth and jumping out Of course sometimes there was a turn over and sometimes there was a butt warming.
On the other side, if you saw grandma sitting in it with her Bible you knew something bad was happening.

I just had to share this with everyone!
Check out not only the cars, but the clothes! Bell bottoms! Cords! And what appears to be a poncho! Good times.
(Iโve driven down this street (Lombard) - itโs the touristy thing to do at least once in San Francisco.)

Didnโt have a Sonic around me growing up. The giraffe pictured here, however, reminded me of getting a Shirley Temple drink and having what i vaguely remember as a plastic giraffe drink stirrer in it. Felt very grown up while the adults had their cocktails. ๐
