5 Port Charger gift for signing up

I got the 5 port charger when i signed up and it won't charge and it either won't charge my device or other it says it's going to take 6 - 8 hours to charge. I would like to get something else since this thing doesn't actually work.

Took the bottom off the unit and watched as I pushed the power cord in. Connector is not securely attached and will probably break off soon. Max power rating is dubious and good chargers are widely available. I'm not going to use this thing.

Be very careful of this Charging hub. I noticed my devices were acting wonky, so I touched the charging hub and it was hot as a stove. I immediately unplugged it and tried to pick it up. It was just about ready to meltdown, possibly catch on fire. It was by the grace of God that the house didn’t have a fire. Not only that, but it can severely damage your devices that are plugged in. A cheap charging hub like this is not worth it, throw it away immediately and purchase one that is certified and reliable .

Sucks that it wasn't a USB HUB, but a charger, especially since chargers now are majority C connections.  Oh well, it was free....

Mine has 3 USB fittings and 3 for wall plugin cords.  I ABSOLUTELY USE IT TO DEATH!!!  I'm here because I'd like to buy one for a friend, but can't find the item for sale anywhere.  Dammit.  And it takes appropriate time to charge everything I've needed to charge...sometimes even faster.  Most cords for charging nowadays are for USB-C, so it is perfect for my needs.  Thank you, AARP.  Can I buy one? please?

Hi @pl3416  Looks like there's a 2-year auto renew membership that is offering a 5-port charger. See below. USB-A, too. Anyway, you have 'til June 4th to get another one, for your friend! 😄

Not sure if that’s a speaker more holes for ventilation to cool it down when it starts to overheat?

Hi TinaK. Many listeners enjoy the Bluetooth speaker because it is wireless and portable. If you have any questions, I'm always here to help! - Stephen K.

Hi @WilliamP626492, the 5-Port Charging Hub is compatible with most smartphones that use USB chargers. The newest iPhones come with a different type of charger. - Diana G.

It's not a USB hub. It is a cheap, dressed up wall charger.

I do hope that nobody tries to claim this Bluetooth speaker. It's a tin can sound, and very small. I got one years ago, spray painted it white, and it sounds awful (it sounded awful before I painted it). I did recently need to renew my membership, but I only did so when they no longer offered the same Bluetooth speaker, by which I'd receive a trunk organizer, instead. I like the trunk organizer. I just renewed my membership last night. On that note, you have me for another year! 😉

The Charging Hub you sent me as a gift to renew my membership, almost burnt my house down. You may want to consider, recalling all of them that you sent out to members and have them throw them away like I did. Two of my devices were severely damaged and I’m hoping my hearing aids which were hooked up at Charging are still working. I haven’t tried them yet this morning. Your thoughtfulness of the Charging hub as a renewal gift was admirable however you may want to consider taking it out of your offerings and replace it with possibly a nice cutting board for the kitchen or something like that?

Your five-port USB hub is probably delivering 500 milliamps vs 1 or 2 amps for most wall chargers. The wall charger will likely shorten charging time.

I'm thinking primarily of phones. Some devices that require more power may not charge at all at that low amperage. I don't think the free gift is actually a phone charger.

I think it depends on your phone. I have just a simple flip phone and charged in 45 minutes.

They literally say it's a charger when they tell you about the free gift. A phone is what 99% of people would try to use this to charge.

My apologies Janice. I should have looked at the label before I spoke. It's not a USB hub. If yours looks like this, it should have enough power to charge a few phones at the same time.

I just got one, and it says the same thing: 6 hours. My phone says to use the cord and charger that came with the phone for fast charging. This is very slow charging. OTOH, mine came without a power cord, and I borrowed one from another charging device. That MIGHT make a difference. Otherwise, this is an annoying paperweight.

  1. I just received my so called AARP power adapter, no manual, no instructions and appears to be a waste of money. Wayne
