Part D penalty

I would like to know if anyone can help me or give me any information on how to get rid of my part D Medicare penalty. Need help !!  please respond if you can help.

I would suggest you contact a local expert on this. If you do not know one contact your local AARP Office as they should be able to direct you to one.

There are many in and outs to what you are asking so many times an expert can get you help by using them. Most of us in here have no idea what they all are.

@lg8227 There are reasons to appeal the penalty. The deadline is 60 days from the date you received the letter informing you about the penalty.

The big question is what @GailL1  asked you,” Why were you late signing up for Medicare Part D?”

Unfortunately, not knowing about the requirements to have prescription drug coverage is not going to be a good enough reason to win an appeal.

Why were you late signing up for Medicare Part D? 

Did you have other prescription coverage during the time that you should have signed up and when you actually did sign up?  If so, what kind.

If you decided just not to sign up when you were 1st eligible because you didn't need any prescription drug coverage - not sure there is a remedy to the penalty.
