๐Ÿ‘‹ MEDICARE Annual "Open" Enrollment Period(s)

Already enrolled in Medicare?  ๐Ÿค”

Donโ€™t forget about the Oct. 15-Dec. 7 annual open enrollment period when you can change your plans.

FROM OUR RESIDENT EXPERT - THANK YOU GAIL @GailL1 !!!

There are other enrollment periods -
Right now we are in the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment period where people who already have a MA plan can change to another Jan 01 - March 31 - the prerequisite is that you already gave to have (1) plan to change to another.

Then there is all of these depending upon your situation.

Medicare.gov- Joining a Plan (link in her original post below).

Yes, it depends on the plan - for a free standing Part D plan like people on traditional Medicare have, it is Oct 15 - Dec 07 to change your plan.

For Medicare Advantage plans that have an included Prescription Drug plan, you can change plans Oct 15 - Dec 07 and then if for some reason you donโ€™t like it or missed the date, you have Jan 01- March 31to change your plan.

Then there are all of the special enrollment periods that has been set aside for different thing too (as shown on the link).

Well, it appears my complaint did some good, because you edited your original post to add the CURRENT open enrollment Advantage members are in, which you said you didn't know about until someone here corrected you.  I agree--thank you, GaiL1, for keeping on top of people's posts and taking the time to correct them.

You are welcome - now lets all get together and complain about all the โ€œEnrollment Periodsโ€ - Gawd, there are ton of them -

IEP - Initial Enrollment period

OEP - Open Enrollment period

MAOEP- Medicare Advantage Open enrollment period

SEP - Special Enrollment Period

GEP - General Enrollment Period

MSEP- Medicare Supplemental Enrollment Period

Did I miss any?

Better pick the right one for what you need to do - good grief, who created this ?  ๐Ÿค“

No wonder NO ONE has been posting in this MEDICARE FORUM. You have run them away.

But just a couple of weeks ago, you said the Medicare forum was a "hot topic."  But at the same time said there was decreased activity and attributed it to Medicare posts not appearing on the site's main page.  But regardless of the apparent inconsistency, Medicare discussions are generally most robust during the annual open enrollment period in the Fall--the one you alerted us to the other day.

Maybe it's just my ego talking, but I don't think my posts are running anybody off who's interested in accurate information about Medicare.

Why in the world would anybody need to be reminded about an open enrollment period that's nine months away?

Medicare is confusing enough without misdirections concerning open enrollment periods.

@TRL1111 what misdirection was given???

The misdirection was alerting people to an open enrollment period that won't happen for another nine months, ESPECIALLY without mentioning that we're currently IN an open enrollment period for people with Advantage plans, who can make changes that go into effect almost immediately.  The period you're alerting people about will result in changes that don't take effecting until January 1, 2026.  No need to be thinking about that right now, especially if it obscures other courses of action that are available.

Here is a suggestion @TRL1111 , IGNORE my posts!!! Goodness... ๐Ÿ™„

This is your response when you ask me a direct question and I answer it?  Jesus.

I wish I could ignore your posts, but that would mean your sketchy information doesn't get corrected, which is a disservice to everyone else on these forums.  And maybe I'll finally resort to that, because correcting misinformation about Medicare is darn near a full-time job.

(2) You really NEED to go find something to do.  Seems you are spending way too much time posting to this discussion. Everyone read and understand what you said. NOW let's move on.

But every time I'm inclined to move on, I'm left wondering what caused a person on February 23 to decide THAT is the time to remind people of something that's happening in October.

As I said before, @GailL1 added OTHER DATES to the DATES I had posted.

Otherwise known as correcting your misdirection.  There are lots of people who don't realize we're currently in an open enrollment period (perhaps including you when you alerted everyone about the open enrollment period that is eight months away).
