There's been some interesting Japanese studies showing the more time people spend walking on uneven, "wild" paths throughout their life the less likely they are to fall and break a hip or other bones when older. Wild walkers have improved balance and core muscle strength that sticks with them well into old age. Even starting this at age 50 offers those benefits. 🙂
