In the midst of this horrible week I’m having (posted under challenge thread) I found out that my bff since 4th grade is moving back to PA this summer. She had moved 8 hours away in 2021 and we’ve only seen each other once since then. That absolutely made my day. It was so nice to feel happy about something in the midst of such a tough week!

I survived Publix, but it was a war zone out there today! Maybe these crazy winds have people in a tizzy. Blocking aisles with carts, making the cooler inaccessible while talking business on the phone, crowding the person in front of you in the checkout line, speeding through the parking lot....whew I'm glad to be home!

I'm happy to say that in addition to my normal activities, I had a lovely lunch with a friend this afternoon. It was great to catch up with her and to have a distraction from other thoughts.

Was absolutely wiped out by a sinus attack yesterday...very odd for this time of year, they're usually a winter thing.  Crashed early and slept soundly for about 11 hours.  Woke up feeling great.  Was feeling frisky at work all night...still feeling a bit frisky today.

Today at Walmart, a dad of a 2 year old plus some months (lol, forgot what dad told me) was so NICE to this "want-to-be" grandma 🙄 (me, none as yet).

As I was exiting heading to parking lot, a CUTIE (boy) was in a cart being pushed by dad.

I said to the young fellow, so how old are you? Dad smiled and answered.

He then said to his son, do you see what she has on? I had my Mickey Mouse t-shirt on.

They had just come back from Disney in Florida. Told dad that is where I am headed to join my daughter.

I THANKED him for taking time out of his Walmart trip to chat.

I am so used to being "run over" by ADULTS in a "rush" - this man REMINDED me about what is important.

Making TIME for other people.

I am still SMILING from my experience. Cannot wait to have my 1st grandchild...

My front door lock wore out and I was afraid I would break my key off in it or it would just stop working at all. I called a handyman and followed his advice to go out and buy the hardware that was needed to replace the worn out pieces. He came out today, said I matched the pieces perfectly (so no new holes needed to be made and no door painting was needed) and installed everything. It is one more thing that I was able to do on my own!

Yesterday I went to a water aerobics class. Being with people, hearing the music, feeling the warmth and buoyancy of the water, and getting the physical benefits of movement all facilitate positive feelings. Two particular songs seemed to resonate with the bird population as well because they were singing their own individual songs in a beautiful chorus! Their contributions to the class made our smiles a little bigger!

I went to a group yesterday and there was some discussion about grief. Some people describe it as diminishing over time and others say the grief remains constant and we grow around it. As we are in the process of discovering who we are following our loss, it is something to think about.

I am SO GRATEFUL my only child has blossomed in spite of her father's death. TODAY she is attending a conference in COLD Missouri, lives in Florida. She luvs these YEARLY NSBE conferences which are hosted at different locations each year.

Children can be resilient! Celebrate that you as her Mom were there for her and created an environment that was conducive to her thriving and blossoming. Now you get to relax a little and enjoy being the proud Mom of a happy, successful daughter!

Thanks Marcy @MarcyW882921 . We had A LOT of heated discussions about WHY her father was NEVER there for her. Lol, some days she wanted ZERO to do with me as she felt I was not ACKNOWLEDING her anger. Well, last month I finally FIGURED OUT 🙄 how to bring in a flag of peace/lol. Told her I KNOW he was a drug addict/dealer, lived in the Florida jail (total embarrassment for her as of course they now post everything online), I left him to raise her on my own. She was being bombarded with HIS family telling her she SHOULD be in his life! 😤 Anyway, he died last year - yes, caught COVID in jail.

May he rest in peace, Nicole 🤎🤗

Besides the very early Spring we have been blessed with in Georgia, every morning and all day,  I have a mockingbird that sits in a tree in my backyard and sings. There is beauty in this fallen world!

I love these encounters with birds! They all have such unique songs that they sing. They make me pause and think about what they might be communicating and to appreciate the beauty of their songs. There was a bird singing his little heart out on two different days this week from a light pole above the tennis courts.

I love to watch and listen to birds! I have several feeders in my backyard so I have quite a variety!!! Believe it or not, an owl lives near me and sometimes at night I hear it hooting by my window! Love it!!!

My world fell apart, I was "crying" EVERY day when his brother stopped by to tell me. JOHN never made it back from the Veteran's Hospital.
