Unable to setup Private Messaging

The instructions are to go to My Settings/Preferences/Private Messenger tab to turn on private messaging. Following the instructions, I do not get the Private Messenger tab to be able to turn on.

How can I rectify this?

I ran into that once and it turned out the forum admin had disabled private messaging site-wide, so the tab never showed up no matter what I did. Might be worth checking with them before pulling your hair out. I’ve had a similar thing at work where our sip trunk provider made setup smooth and reliable, but only after certain features were activated—so it could just be a setting that needs turning on here too.

Good to know - but now I wonder if this is the solution, why the AARP Customer Care folks just didn’t answer people about this solution - which does seem appropriate.  OH, Well - maybe it is a relatively new fix and now we know in case somebody else has the same problem.  Thank you for posting this, @KallC765857.
