Download AARP Magazine & Bulletin for offline reading on a computer
Is there a way to download the AARP Magazine and AARP Bulletin for offline reading on a computer? I have downloaded them on my smartphone and someday I may actually find where they were downloaded to and what format they were downloaded in (PDF, etc.).
If there is a way to download to a computer, is there a way to stop the paper delivery so there would be no need to recycle them?
Thanks in advance for any assistance. ๐

You keep saying that the AARP Bulletin can be viewed online from a PC but I cannot find the cover story for the January/February 2023 bulletin ANYWHERE. I finally ran into a pop-up window asking for feedback but without a way to give it!!! It said something like "...no longer available because we are providing exciting new ways for readers..." This is NOT EXCITING, it's infuriating. I agree with others phone/apps are impossible to read, especially long articles for someone with a bad neck (most of us over 65), and that's assuming you have a smart phone which half of the people I know do not. I'd love to share this article with my 87 year-old mother who has a subscription, but there is no link to do so and I'm not about to put her through what I just went through. I'm about a minute from cancelling my membership. Please advise.

@AudreyB882710 I'm here to help, Audrey! I apologize for any confusion this has caused. The current issue is available when you login to view the Bulletin on a PC: https://www.aarp.org/benefits-discounts/members-only-access/aarp-bulletin-current-issue.html This article is not on that site because it's from a previous issue. However, I was able to locate that article for you and the direct link if you'd like to share it is: https://www.aarp.org/health/conditions-treatments/info-2023/fighting-heart-disease-in-america.html I hope you decide to stick with us and please let me know if there's anything further I can do!

Thank you kindly for your quick reply and for the link to the article. Pardon my frustrations...I was overwhelmed by my own expectations and going forward will simply paraphrase articles to friends and family in good old-fashioned story-telling style ;).

I currently receive both AARP Magazine and AARP Bulletin in the mail, but I would also like to download PDF copies to my Windows 10 PC.
I was unable to find a way to do this on your website, and a web search only talks about doing it to a smart phone. I do not have a smart phone, but would like to have copies on my PC which I can search easily.
If this is not currently possible, how do I tell decision makers that it is definitely needed? I'm sure I'm not the only member who would love to have this.
Please forward this to anyone who can make a difference.
Thanks.

@bjedrick Unfortunately, there is no way to download PDF copies of the publications at this time. I have passed on your suggestion to our team. Also, as an AARP Member, you can log in to view the current issue of AARP The Magazine and AARP Bulletin online.

The PDF format is a standard across multiple kinds of computers and computing devices. I have a couple of apps that let me view PDF files on each of my devices. The last thing I want is to have to have a special app on my phone, a special app on my tablet, and a special app on my computer for *each* publisher of documents. Instead, I want to use the app that best meets my needs for displaying standard PDF files, whether the document in question is from AARP or Medicare or a cruise company, etc.

This is discriminatory to those of us that cannot control our reading environments to conform to the likes of those who favor the digital age. I've also realized that your digital version deletes all of the advertisements, such as the AARP5 auto insuance program on page 5, Jitterbug on page 7, AARP live every benefit to the fullest on page 8 and 9, and more, from the July/August 2024 digital version. So, why is this? The PDFs were available to all of us and accommodated all visual styles and reading styles. Why? I mean no disrespect here when I ask what is the average age of yrour digital team, or the person(s) responsible for making this decision. Who thought this would be a good idea for ALL readers? And to just autuomatically delete the PDFs is discriminating and lacks respect to those paying members who need PDFs to accommodate their disabilities. I am one of these paying members. Will AARP accommodate those individuals who need PDFs to enjoy reading the publications? Is there a specific form we need to submit, with medical documentation, to continue to accommodate these individuals? Universities have this type of form. What about AARP? This form is not about desire but about need and has compliance backing it.

@MarianneA410174 I'm really sorry about the changes in our online publications. We value the comments and opinions of our members and appreciate your feedback. I will ensure your comments are forwarded to our publications staff for review. - Janelle M.
I want to get rid of all this paper surrounding me and you're making it that much harder. AARP seems to think we don't have a long term value to your advice, so I wonder why you even publish if that's the case. And also, I really do not like having two publications from the same organization. If you need to cut expenses, consolidate to one publication and stop wasting people's time getting rid of PDF's which are archiveable and can be saved on a thumb drive. That's great for packrats like me who need incentives to slim down possessions in the real world. (Plus it's less of a fire hazard.) I also have vision problems so I use larger print size and it's really a hassle on a phone.

We value you as a member, @ts96554285 and we understand your frustration. While the PDF versions are no longer available, you can access AARP The Magazine or Bulletin online or through the AARP Now app. Here you can find more information: https://aarp.info/3VN8Nan - Diana G.

Multiple comments from above:
1) As a boomer, like most of us here, we don't live on our phones. Who "other than those darn kids" would want to read a detailed article on a cell phone with its "postage stamp" screen. That's what the 30 inch monitors in our home offices are for.
2) "Yet another app" is Yet another piece of software (actually AARP will have to manage multiple for eg iOS, Android, etc) that has to be maintained, updated, patched, and unbroken when Yet Another OS patch/upgrade happens. These are all security risks that a pdf file doesn't carry with it. (ok, Adobe has to deal with it..)
