Advertisements now part of the Videos???

So, after weeks of being down, AARP decides to insert advertisements preceding their videos. It should now be clear to every member what AARP thinks of you after they get your membership money.

The rewards program has been a disaster for years and AARP refuses to do anything about it. This is not the 1st extended outage the program has endured this year. Earlier in the year we were promised new and exciting changes to the program and what do we get, and extended outage without any improvement or changes. Then this recent outage. The rewards program was down for weeks without explanation. When they finally get it up, they offer a measly 500 pts to compensate members for the inconvenience. At least in my case, the bonus point award doesn't work as I get the error message "We don't recognize that code. Please try again." Well, guess what AARP, the code was copied and pasted so there was no error in the code, your system screwed up..again (or is it "still").

Then to add insult to injury, they've monetized the reward videos by inserting advertisements that precede the videos.

Membership was barely worth the money to begin with. Discounts in most cases are negligible. Then the reward awards have been reduced, with many options no longer available, then in an effort to extract more money from the program, they screw over paying members by making them watch advertisements prior to earning rewards from watching videos. How much money is AARP making off this 'fund raiser'?

AARP membership is nothing but another revenue stream that AARP can exploit and provide nothing in return.

Afternoon Neil

We've certainly been put through the ringer with Rewards site

But I must say I've always had ads b4 videos...many offer a skip button after a few seconds but always had them & also b4 play games...my most aggravating one is "We need your help.... BLAH blah" wanting members to join the fight... even after sign up to do it still get that popup most every time play games that earn points

So I'd say you've been blessed if your only seeing them now & not b4 latest shutdown

Hopefully they'll have Instant Wins & Sweeps & site back to its normal nutsy soon... we can hope 🙏 😌 🤔🙃🤪

Take care have a beautiful week

[9/22/25] Hi Neil @NeilJ79942 , did you try inputting the BONUS 500 points code "manually"? Maybe their system does NOT like "copy&pasted" codes. Also, some members got an ERROR MESSAGE because they had MAXED out for that day. By waiting for the date to "roll over" - trying AGAIN, it worked. I am wondering IF the code has "expired" - has it @AARPTerri ? As far as the ads, I have NOT been on the Rewards Site for awhile. Geez, NOT good at all. Take care, Nicole!
