Anywhere but where elimination of immigration, international participation, public (non-governmental controlled) broadcasting, public assistance and low-income assistance was the most important agenda...

Then I'd help others escape.

I believe in most countries you have to live there awhile to be eligible for some types of public assistance.  In fact, in some countries, you have to bring some type and amount of income with you to even be welcomed.

In Greece, they use to turn away boat loads of Syrian refugees.  Australia also has very strict immigration laws - they too turn away those coming in with unlawful entry.

Even in our refugee system, it takes a while to be eligible for many types of assistance - and this is for refugees who are approved entry even years before arriving in the country - on their nickel too.

So just know the laws ad the rules of whereever you might be contemplating the move.

ITโ€˜S ALWAYS SOMETHING . . . . .. . . .

Lol Denese @WebWiseWoman , maybe the moon may work!!! On the serious side, I stay home these days. Between the random of folks feeling a need to kill folks just because they can & other perverted actions = a very stressful time worldwide. Thanks for stopping by!!! Take care, Nicole!

Good morning, Nicole,

For me it was when 1-Oct-2017, when while watching TV I learned of a madman murdering at the Route 91 festival my daughters and their steps were attending (for their annual girls weekend)... I opened the garage door, planning to drive there but then as I fell to the ground on my knees not knowing of their fates realized I couldn't get there, even tho only within a mile and within hearing distance, which I think is what drove me to the ground.

My brave neighbors walked me back into my apartment and the family Facebook page was open with eldest SIL writing they were safe and ex was driving to pick them up. One injured slightly; others obviously traumatized.

The MOST painful event in the following days was this terrible individual paying a presidential visit to victims; we pled he did not come to Vegas; we begged, actually...

I'm sorry if some are offended but this is our truth.

Denese @WebWiseWoman , yes I remember you posting about this AWFUL situation & that was when you lost your faith. I donot discuss religion with my only child anymore as I have lost it. Then now to have the Texas floods destroy a christian camp. Anyway dear friend, it is what it is & I am glad you made it through all this. Nicole  ๐Ÿ’›

I've lived in South Korea, Colombia and Ghana, and have been fortunate to travel in 48 different countries, but the place I really want to see is "La Sagrada Familia" in Barcelona, Spain. But at the age of 87 and problems with my balance, due to a head injury, I am hesitant to travel alone any more. If anyone has suggestions on how I can make this dream trip easily and economically, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Take a younger friend, perhaps a  grandchild? Travel light but include aTransfer chair". Travel midweek, business class if possible. Business class gives access to lounges with food, wifi, comfortable seating & more). You'll probably have a connection. Make it a "comfortable time" one. I requested a 4h11m one for a trip this month, rather than accept a 1hr40m run from 1 building to another.

Stay outside of Barcelona proper, perhaps nearer the airport? Have your accommodation arrange airport pick up and use a guide to maximize sights and minimize walking. This was my first year to take a cane, and It came in handy :-)!

Buen viaje,

Hey @Winter2025VA,

Other than the locations that I named in another comment further in this thread, I would probably spend my money right here in the good ole USA.

Why visit other countries when I know so little about my own?

I would visit all 50 states, all the National Parks, all the state capitals, sail the rivers and lakes, and scale mountains.

Like the land of make believe with Mr. Rogers?

Not being on a vay cay since 2004, I don't really have any desire to go anywhere, even my old vacation destinations have changed, they just wouldn't be the same.... why change my ways at this point in life?

My brother, who I no longer speak with, said before COVID I should "Travel Asia", really though being dropped off 6000 miles away in a country where I cannot communicate, figure out currency, etc. .. some may call this an adventure, I'd call it pure frustration!    ๐Ÿ™‚

Probably back to Maui. Been there 7 times. Can't get enough. Sometimes I can smell it in the air. Just a sense of being home, as silly as it sounds. Live on the east coast yet feel that call.

Life is funny.

I would probably want to visit the various origins of civilization/government as we know it.

Places like Beijing, Athens, Rome.
