Using Passkeys

I've been reading that passkeys are what we should be using for security even beyond 2FA. I've read some procedures on how to do this but my concern is that I'll do something wrong and can't get into websites I need. I've confirmed that my password tool (Roboform) can handle passkeys but I am still nervous about using them. What guidance can you give me?
