Thank you for posting about this-- I, too, am extremely disappointed that Princess has decided to end these discounted gift cards. There was no warning about it and frankly, I think it will definitely hurt Princess in the end. I used these gift cards to actually take the cruises. The savings allow me to buy and do more while on my Princesses cruises. 8% DOES make a difference to my travel budgets. I'm just incredibly upset as I was planning to start buying cards with the view of taking a cruise in January. Not sure now.

Editing your information Annamarie-- first off, thank you! We all appreciate any heads up we can get on real discounted Princess Cruise Gift cards.
I just bought 3 $500 Princess Cruises Gift cards. While it says you can buy 5 with the Code-- it switches right before you buy it! Beware! The 8% discount on $500 with their limited code offer with SSDYAA44, can work for the first 3-- not 5. I bought three for the total price of $1,380 (for $1500 worth of $500 (3)).
Also, you cannot go to a different email and try to use your name and credit card, it knows. You are blocked of the deals... if you have another person and another credit card you can buy more but the same person can't seem to buy more.
It's a limited offer. From roughly the time that I'm sharing this, there is a 9 hour sale.
Lastly, I bought the last time they had a sale (on that one you could only buy one so this sale is better)-- it did work fine.

To clarify @DeannaC comments, there is a thread on another cruising related website where the thread is solely about when the Newegg cards go on discount. The first time I became aware of Newegg discounted Princess cards, I bought the remainder I needed for the final payment on the only cruise I have booked right now, so I haven't bought any since. That being said, I'm reading there that there are conditions when Newegg offers Princess cards at a discount. First off, Newegg only offers discount cards on 'pop-up' sales that only last for about 12 hours or so. and they seem to only offer the sales every 10-14 days or so. Recently, there was a one card maximum purchase as so many of former AARP customers flooded Newegg initially. I have been reading in the past couple of days that Newegg has the following terms for discounted Princess gift cards.
1. Maximum of 10 cards can be purchased each day. When the cards are discounted, only the first 5 are discounted and any number beyond the first five are sold at par.
2. When the cards are offered at discount, you can only use the discount code once for that sale. This means if you want to buy 5 cards, you would need to buy all five at the same time. You can't buy 3 now and go back a few hours later for 2 more.
I hope this helps. If you are interested in following the thread on the other site, you can search for "newegg princess gift card" to find it. Hint: It's not a Newegg site that has the discussion thread.

I expanded my experience and warnings on another travel post on FBโ the discounted $500 sale is over on New Egg but important to note for the future on New Eggโ, I wrote this yesterday:
โWARNING FOR USING NEW EGG: New Egg's Princess Gift cards DO WORK but I've also found them to be sneaky about how many you can actually buy at a discount. PLEASE DO NOT JUST BUY THEM!! Double and triple check that you've applied the discount code, that the discount is being taken off all, and that the actual total corresponds with what the total discount should be. They can do a fast switch so be aware you might lower the amount of cards, to get the actual discount. Some of their discounts are just for one card only, others you can buy a few more. Just do not assume anything-- apply the discount and keep your eyes open if you want to try for more than one.

The new CEO - he is penny wise and pound foolish. I LOVE Princess - but tired of him chipping away at all values available. (A case of water delivered to the stateroom was $7.08. Last month, without notice - $24 per case. A "service charge added". Ridiculous.)

Per the head office, it was not a Princess decision to pull the gift cards off AARP. I do 100% agree with the change to $24 from $7.08 on the water ordered pre-cruise. Until a couple weeks ago, I had never done it, but decided to . Glad I did at that time, since the price went up the following week.

There is a Vlogger who posts videos about cruises who just posted a story that AARP has reduced the discount for Carnival cards from 10% to 8%. He stated when he contacted Carnival to ask why, Carnival responded that it is the company actually selling the cards that sets the terms of the gift card purchases - not Carnival. That sounds consistent that it was AARP who decided to discontinue Princess. Shame on AARP for lying to its members about this and suckering seniors into becoming members so they can make purchases that AARP knew they weren't going to offer anymore. Aren't there enough entities that scam seniors out of their hard earned money, does AARP need to do this too? What else are they scamming out of us?

No, it was not a delivery fee. Back a few months ago, buying 12 bottles of water before your cruise cost $7 now if you ordered it before the cruise, it's $24. It probably even more expensive while on board-- I think Princess is trying everything they can to force people into the Princess Plus and Princess Premier packages. While they seem to be a good value for those who drink at least some beverages that are not free, it's so frustrating! I was just on a Princess cruise and found that they changed both the free Lemonade AND their free Iced Tea to horrible tasting mixes. Just horrible! Nickel and diming people hurts the company in the long run!

That's why we bring refillable water bottles with us on every cruise. No need to purchase water bottles. With the Plus and Premier packages, we still find Princess has the best value of any cruise line out there today, until you get into the luxury all inclusive lines.

The $24 for water is crazy. You do get a couple of bottles in the fridge once you are Elite (and can possibly have some of the alcohol switched out if water is more your thing). But the free laundry is why I still love Elite. Don't mess with the free laundry benefit!

Carnival Corporation brands all operate as independent entities. Carnival Corp does not control which brands offer discount cards to AARP. That's why Carnival cards have been a 10% discount while HAL and Princess were 8%. In this case, Princess has ended the discount program with AARP.

@DoloresS374841 So sorry about this! Princess Cruise Lines has decided to discontinue offering discounted gift cards through the AARP Rewards Program. However, we do still have a variety of other popular brands, including Carnival, Celebrity, and Royal Caribbean. - Janelle M.
