AARP IS RIP OFF AND DECEITFUL!!!

AARP is supposed to be a Nonprofit and claims to not support/promote any companies; yet they do based on the commercials and advertising.
I find it egregious that they support United healthcare and promote signing up with this horrible DIS-advantage company!!! UHC denied medication which could have healed me in less than 2 weeks numerous times. The last time I tried to appeal the decision some insensitive young girls were laughing in the background saying my appeal would never get approved. This was January 2024. By August sepsis started to settle in and I had to be hospitalized. After weekly surgeries including 4-1/2 weeks on a wound vac until December 16 I was sent to an UN-skilled nursing facility until April 22, 2025!!! I am home by choice because of the lack of care, but I am still bedridden indefinitely. So the denial of medication cost of $286 turned into hospital/medical bills almost totaling over $200,000!!! My plan covered payment for inpatient care from first day of admission, yet they refuse to pay $1300 and I am being charged for it. Notwithstanding; what price will compensate me for the lost of time and the interruption of my life and missing out on graduations, birthdays, weddings, births; etc.? Not to mention the loss of income and my business!!!  And what about my pain and suffering??? And yet AARP CONTINUES TO ENCOURAGE SENIORS TO SIGN UP WITH UHC!!! (Side bar: UHC’s decisions for denial of benefits is based on A. I.  85% of denial decisions are based on A. I.)!!!

From what I read in the comments about other people’s experiences with the companies promoted by AARP haven’t been any better. And don’t get me started on the comments about the other benefits. I have been yet to find any of the free training or any employment opportunities!!!  And based on the current situation with Medicare and Medicaid, it’s hard to believe they are “Advocating” for us in Washington D. C.; hard to believe that is where membership fees are going. Most likely paying for the back to back TV advertising on every station in every states in the country!!! And I have to wonder how much of a kickback they are getting from the government and companies??? And like suckers seniors pay for what? The expensive retreats the powers that be go on. While they lie to the members and cheat us; they are living the HIGH LIFE!!! And most of us are not able to afford food, medicine or anything.
I have searched and searched to find a way to post this to no avail!!!  The powers that be hide away in their ivory towers and mansions while most of us struggle to survive!!! Struggling to buy groceries and keep the utilities on.

Although I totally sympathize with your situation I am curious why you didn't just pay the $286 for the medication and save yourself what you went through. I've had similar situation with my HMO with a drug that was third tier or not covered and paid out of pocket. Health is so important to maintain as a senior it is my priority. I hope you recover fully and move forward.

Wondering the same thing. Plus why not talk to doctor and see if there is another drug. We have had to this several times over the past year.
