Rewards site partially back up (supposedly)

The website is still incredibly sluggish (for me), so I don't know if they're telling the truth about that.  What I do know is that they are giving us 500 measly points for all we've been though AND in classic AARP fashion, the code to get the measly 500 points DOESN'T EVEN WORK!  Well done as always, AARP, your respect for the folks who pay your salaries in second to none.

The code worked for me.  Did you get the pop-up box to enter it?

Thanks, yeah I'd gotten the box but it still didn't work.  However, by this morning it was working, so it's all good (except for the insultingly small number of points).

What would you have liked to have been done?  Just curious what you think they should give.

Considering that I can earn 600 points in about two minutes when the website is working properly, I'd say that 500 is insulting.  I'd say nothing less than the one-day max (7,500) and preferably more.

Ok.  Sounds good.  Try asking them.  Case by case basis might work.  If I can obtain the offer I will, but not worth my time to ask for more.  But for others it might.  Never hurts to try.

Agree about the measly points, but the promo code did work for me. Maybe the system was slammed when you tried, so maybe try again now.

I was already signed in when the program came back up, so I entered the promo code both uppercase and lowercase. Neither worked. I thought maybe if I log out and then back in it would work, so I tried that and it told me that I had entered to many invalid codes and to come back tomorrow to try. Now I am thinking that this is the same old AARP Rewards Program that is more than frustrating and I am wondering how much money this program has cost AARP because according to this chat forum a lot of people have cancelled their membership to AARP.

People saying they did/will cancel may not = true value of those that actually did/will

📎  [9/17/25] @dh88588799 , IF it still does NOT work 24 hours after your LAST TRY, you may want to call AARP weekdays 8am ET to 8pm ET. Maybe they can ADD the 500 points to your Rewards Account. I had NO problems on the 1st try. Good luck, Nicole!

Nope, just tried again, still getting the "We don't recognize that code" message.  Sigh.

I want to be sure you are not including any quotes but strictly typing MAKEGOOD in the promo box, can you confirm?

Yes, I typed it perfectly -- double and triple checked.  It just did not work, and then it told me I had tried too many times.  But it did work this morning.  So even to get the pitiful 500 points, I had to waste a bunch of extra time.  Way to go, AARP!

Yes, I typed MAKEGOOD in both all uppercase and lowercase letters.

📎  [9/17/25] Are you MAXED out on Earning Points for today @dh88588799 ? One of our members who is a "retired" IT person mentioned this MAY affect being able to ADD the "free" 500 points. She is WAITING on the date to "rollover" to try AGAIN. Take care, Nicole!

Good mornin', Nicole...

Well, it was due to being maxed for the day as I received the "bonus" 500 points today.

I will add that this is not actually "bonus" (defined as extra in multiple dictionaries); it is just 500 points included in daily maximum points earned...

Terrific Thursday everyone!

Teri... I have another issue that I do not see mentioned besides this one.. My Extra Credit Lessons were completed before the system went down and are not showing as completed. The one "Strong Reasons for Being Active" in particular is not showing as completed.  When I go into the lesson, the four activities are showing as completed but there are actually two sets of the same four activities within that lesson. 3 of the 4 duplicates are not showing as completed and when I try to do the extra activities again it says they already have been completed. Thanks.

📎  [9/17/25] Denese @WebWiseWoman , I hope it works for you. Cannot understand WHY it works for SOME members & not all. I tried it when I saw @AARPTeri post about it. Worked 1st time. Take care my friend, Nicole 💛

Thanks, Nicole! I think it's probably because I maxed out early this a.m., but we'll know for sure when the date rolls.

Stay safe!

I was able to enter my code and my points showed up immediately. Have you tried keying the code again?

Does it really surprise anyone that their promo code is not recognized by their system?  lol
