Taking Social Security before FRA

Hello,

If you take social security benefits midyear, before FRA and am under the monthly income limit is the limit calculated using pay date or by actual hours worked?  Do you submit monthly wage totals for the first year months?

Specifically see:

Page 5 - Special rule for the first year you retire

Page 6 - Should you report changes in your earnings?

The whole brochure is good to know - cause there is also a special rule in the year of FRA.
