I checked it out. The Sound Of Silence is a good song, and it's hard to mess it up. However, I still prefer Simon & Garfunkel's version. I get it why Disturbed put a little anger in his voice towards the end. But, some good "musicality" was lost in the process. He needs to keep his anger musical to make a good song. That's the main reason Hard Rock is not my favorite genre. The "harder" it gets, the less musical it gets.

@Makara63 Hubby turned me onto the Disturbed rendition a couple weeks back. I'd never heard it, but have played the video a good doszen times since. 🙂 Love it.

@nyadrn As a song it's certainly meh, as to me, are most her songs. (I tend to go for stronger vocals). I watch Taylor more from a marketing professional's POV. She's stellar that way. Pure genius.

Nevertheless, this is one of those catchy songs, so beware if you do listen to it very much! I was singing "I don't slack nobody and nobody beats me; I'll be the cyclist starring in your bad dreams" to myself on this morning's training ride ... while I was leaving everyone else in the dust. 🙂

I know what you mean. What I find disturbing about this is that she says the old Taylor can't answer the phone because she's dead. What about the new Taylor? Was there nothing of her old self worth salvaging? Now that's what I'd call a Quantum Leap. I don't see how she can blame that choice on someone else. Did she buy into that no-such-thing-as-free-will nonsense? Seems like it. But then again, maybe she'll say this same thing again to her new life/friends. But then again, it's hard to change your mind about dying. What is Death? What is Life? Whatever.
