'Tis The Season: Gratitude, Christmas and Weather Changes

tis-the-season.jpg This time of year brings weather changes, holidays,

memories and mixed emotions.

Post songs, videos or photos for the seasons or holidays.

Either meaningful or just plain fun.

No particular order. Don't worry about repeats.

I posted this song in the ABC's game and thought the video was so cute.

Run Rudolph Run - Chuck Berry

It’s great seeing that video with it too!

Santa baby, Madonna

Her cheeky take on a Christmas classic is just

so fun to listen to….

Christmas tree farm, Taylor Swift

Her inspiration was from her own childhood

on a real Christmas tree farm. To me, it’s a

sweet song about the glory of Christmas as

a child, encorparating the beauty, nostalgia

and love of Christmas 🎄

“And when the world isn’t fair, I pretend that we’re there.”

                                                 ….🎄

Two different songs by the above groups.

O' Holy Night - Home Free (acapella)

Little Drummer Boy - For King + Country

       Exquisite!

The classic Christmas songs are usually our favorites.   I enjoy hearing other arrangements and voices singing the same song, especially harmonies. There are so many to discover. These are two I picked that I enjoyed the harmonies. Both groups are worth listening to any of their songs.

The song is "Do You Hear What I Hear? - written in 1962, with lyrics

by Noël Regney and music by Gloria Shayne

Home Free (acapella)

For King & Country

The spirit of Christmas, Ray Charles

This beautiful song (From Christmas Vacation)

embodies all the elements of Christmas. It

makes me smile and cry at the same time 🙂🥲

Thanks @BeatleloverKT . I had to go listen to several videos.

I couldn't resist "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas", by Gayla Peevey. After the song, is an older Gayla singing her song.

Do they know it’s Christmas? BandAid, 1984

This incredible song was to raise awareness for

famine relief. It’s a reminder all these years later

that world hunger still exists. It makes me grateful

that I’ve never had to experience that….

That was an amazing group back in ‘84.  🎶
And yes, a reminder that there is always something to be grateful for - a full refrigerator, a warm shower, a roof over our heads….

     A powerful song.

I have always enjoyed Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.

Here are my two favorite versions sung by James Taylor and Judy Garland.

Thanks @BeatleloverKT . I used a pack of tissues for the song and for all of us that have been through harsh times  or losing someone during the holidays or at any other time. Thanks for your comments @SereneSeagull  and  @LisaS961881 .

I was very touched when I first heard this song.  I’ve heard some jaded people disparage it, but as someone who has sat bedside in a hospital on Christmas Day, I wholeheartedly agree that it serves as a gentle reminder to be thankful for what you have.

Yes, that’s a beautiful one.  I have satellite radio in the car and always love the holiday channels with no commercials to have to deal with while I drive.  I’ll switch back and forth from the classic holiday station to the more contemporary one.  I remember when I first heard that song how emotional it was.  Hard to drive with it on without getting teary eyed.

Anyone remember the King Family sisters?

It wasn’t the holidays without their King Family Christmas specials!
And Andy Williams too!

I remember those! We looked forward to them every year! 🎄

Does anyone remember Bing Crosby’s 1977 Christmas Special?  The one where he and David Bowie sang that ‘Little Drummer Boy’ duet?  Forty-eight years later, I clearly remember sitting there with my entire family watching it.

Santa Claus is comin’ to town, Springsteen

My son’s fav Christmas song. Always loved

hearing him singing it in the car when he was

little. He’s 30 now and I still think of that cute

little guy belting this out in the backseat 💜🎅🏻
