Written by Ronnie James Dio, the song is loosely based on biblical character called Simon Magnus or Simon the Sorcerer, who was confronted by St. Peter in Rome. The sorcerer claimed to have powers to levitate or fly as though he were a god. It's an epic song running over 8 minutes long.
