"Blessed Are" by Joan Baez is primarily about the loss of "the young ones who have died" and I think mostly of the parents who have lost their own child.  We say things like "they died before their their time" and parents say " it's not right that they die before the parents."  It is a tragedy among tragedies.  One verse is "wild deer die in the mountain snow" partly which means some of us die in our prime, despite beauty and young life.

The song is about other things at deeper levels, and speaks to my whole philosophy of life, but that's a long discussion I can't go into in this short space.  Do listen to it if you can.
