Rock Songs About History
What songs tell a story about historic events, places or people.
I'll start with a true favorite: Roads to Moscow- Al Stewart
From his 1973 Past, Present and Future album
This song tells the story of the German invasion of Russia in WWII. Each verse beautifully captures the different aspects of the conflict as seen through the eyes of a Russian soldier. When you listen, you can almost see the aspects of the campaign happening.

Murder most foul, Dylan. Album was
released in June but this song was out
in April I think.
It is mostly JFK inspired but he makes
references to all sorts of people from the
Beatles to Wolfman Jack. Lots of suble
references also as only Dylan does 💜🎼

Wind Of Change - Scorpions (1990, single 1991)
Written by Klaus Meine, the song is about the culture change in Russia following the fall of the Berlin Wall in East Germany. A conspiracy theory had it that it was written by someone in the CIA! Asked about it, Meine said the idea "would make a great movie". When they later performed it in Moscow, Meine was taught to sing the words in Russian.
