LAST LINES
We’ve done First Notes and Opening Lines so
it’s time to do Last Lines. What are your most
memorable last lines of your fav songs? If
you’re so inclined, tell us why also 🎼💜
“And in the end, the love you take
Is equal to the love you make”
The End, Fab 4️⃣
The final lines from this song from the incredible Abbey Road Medley have always resonated
to me in the deepest way. To me they represent
equality, purity, love and religion all wrapped up in one. This stands as one of the best last lines ever, imo 🎼💜

When the final line is over
And it’s certain that the curtain’s gonna fall
I can hide within your sweet, sweet love forevermore

“Wrong, do it again
If you don’t eat yer meat, you can’t have any
pudding
How can you have any pudding if you don’t
eat yer meat?
You! Yes, you behind the bike sheds, stand still
laddy!”
Another brick in the wall, Pink Floyd
I won’t pretend to understand the lyrics
to this song but the last lines are just
about the most clever I’ve ever heard 🎼💜

”But if you ask for a rise, it’s no surprise
That they’re giving none away”
Money, Pink Floyd
The above are the official last lines, however
There is an outro of “aways” by David Gilmour
and then a long spoken fadeaway Outro that literally could of been a conversation in a bar. In true Pink Floyd fashion, they always set the bar at the highest
level of creativity. Another reason why I love
them and this song 🎼💜

They call it paradise
I don’t know why
You call someplace paradise
Kiss it goodbye
The Last Resort - Eagles
Isn’t that the truth! My favorite Eagles / Don Henley song.

"Sorry, we're so sorry
Don't be sorry
Man has known
And now he's blown it
Upside down and hell's the only sound
We did an aweful job
And now we're just a little too late"
Nobody's Fault - Aerosmith
A diamond in the rough from the Rocks album. The whole song is timelessly insightful...like it was written by a history professor or something.

So much love to make up everywhere you turn
Love we have wasted on the way
So much water running underneath the bridge
Let the water come and carry us away
Let the water come and carry us away
Wasted On The Way - CSN
Written by Graham Nash, it was about how much time they wasted trying to get back together and finally record their third and final album.
At some level, this song speaks to everyone about time wasted that we will never get back.

"If everything should turn around
And it's me who feels so down and out
You could be the kind of company
To share a load and know how bad it feels
Everybody needs to have a friend"
"Everybody Needs a Friend" - Wishbone Ash
Always loved these lyrics and the beautiful guitar(s). The first part of the song tells about how he could be a friend when someone is in need. The last lines tell that he hopes they will be a friend if he is in need. Friendship has always been important to me, since growing up moving every couple of years. Make friends then lose them. So I treasure all.

Who wants to live forever?
Who wants to live forever?
Forever is our today
Who wants to wait forever anyway?
Who Wants To Live Forever - Queen
Written by Brian May for the film Highlander, where the principal character is immortal. Sadly, he faces the loss of his wife who is not. I think it is often forgotten what a brilliant songwriter Brian May is.

"Disappear" - Dream Theater
"You were strong, I was trying
I gave you my hand
I said it's okay
Letting go time to leave here
And I'll carry on
The best that I can
Without you here beside me
Let him come take you home"
Very moving sad song about loss of a loved one and the struggle to go on without them. Loss affects us, past and future.

I am the voice of Never-Never-Land
The innocence, the dreams of every man
I am the empty crib of Peter Pan
A silent kite against the blue blue sky
Every chimney, every moonlit sight
I am the story that will read you real
Every memory that you hold dear
Storytime - Nightwish
So yeah, I kinda like this song! 😎

Seeing clearer, what I’ve done
I refuse to let things go
i could never once admit I’m wrong
And what do I have to show?
Seeing clearer what’s at stake
And the things I have to change
I just hope I can, it’s not too late
Too get a chance to end this pain
Last Man Standing - Hammerfall
He’s writing about pride, a man who sold his soul to win at all costs. But with age came wisdom, and now he sees how wrong he was, and the need to change his ways. He still has hope.
Metal has some of the most poignant lyrics in music. 🤘

Two songs whose last lines express a similar piece of wisdom:
Desperado: Eagles (You better let somebody love you before it's too late)
Nature Boy: Nat King Cole (The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return)

”Love is all you need, Oh yeah,
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah”
All you need is love, Fab 4️⃣
I’ve never been shy about my eternal
love for this song. At the songs end,
they go thru a long chorus of Love is
all you need with some Cat Calling then
Paul launches into She loves you yeah,
yeah, yeah which is another song I love.
Just so amazingly clever and the perfect
end to a perfect song 🎼💜
