I was going to list one song. But, it might not be considered to be a real blues song. So as an intro to it, I want to post this one first:

Mean Mary - I've Been Down (but not that low)

Now, you might appreciate why

While "Blue Christmas" is truly one of Elvis' best sides,  especially from his early days, with James on guitar and the Jordinaires on back up vocals, it's not a blues tune. An absolutely great rock tune though!! And certainly a Christmas classic.

Robert Johnson was a true genius. That's why Clapton idolizes him. Please add to your list: "Ramblin' On My Mind" and "Terrapin Blues", "Crossroad Blues".

Great Pick!!! Blind Lemon was and is a true national music treasure. Check out Taj Mahal's version as well, on "Natchl' Blues" I think. It's a real nice one too.

John Mayer is Class A, highly trained, musician, a graduate of the Jazz Institute in Boston, MA. His style is more jazz than blues. He's also an excellent composer. Eventhough he has some blues roots in his style, eventhough he is a fine guitarist and vocalist, I would not call him a true blues artist. I rest my case with the style of solos he made at the Crossroads Guitar Festival with Eric Clapton. But I must confess I love the guys work.

@jm2422  Agreed, John Mayer's not typically playing the blues (he's stylistically all over the place), and a couple of those cuts I posted were quite a stretch for blues, (posted as much for the lyrical sentiment as the musical structure) but that doesn't mean he can't play the blues with BB. 🙂

I wouldn't necessarily call this the blues. To me, it's more like a ballad. But that doesn't mean I don't love it unconditionally!
