GREAT COVERS OF YOUR FAVORITE SONGS

For many an original song that they love cannot and will not ever be duplicated by a cover, but there are many songs that have been done equally (debatebly) well by others..

So do you have favorites?

What are your favorite covers of favorite songs?

The best, Tina Turner. A 1989 cover of Bonnie Tyler, 1988.

Had no idea Tina’s version was a cover until

the day she passed. I played it that day and

have played it every day since. It still brings

me to tears.

No one else should EVER try to sing it

except for Tina. She, like the song, is

THE BEST 🎼💜😢

One of the original punk rock songs is Surfing Bird by the trashmen from 1964, which is Peter Griffin's favorite record.    This was actually a cover of two songs by the Rivingtons, Birds The Word and PaPa um Ma Ma from 1962.   The Rivingtons' original has the juice.  Many others have also recorded the two songs and of these my favorite is by the Ramones.

Play With Fire - Manfred Mann’s Earth Band (Rolling Stones cover)

https://youtu.be/_BvpN7uJ7AY

Another classic song as reimagined by The Mann. While it may not have the sass of Mick Jagger’s original, they take the musical arrangement to a whole new level.

Chase Webster's {Gary D. Bruce} original version of "Moody River" He sang it, wrote it and then Pat Bland Boone got a hold of it. But the original is getting its due credit .

Boy are you correct.   Boone's is fine but that original has the juice..

I’m a fan of ‘The Mann.’ Theirs cover arrangements are always brilliantly done.

Written by Joni Mitchell (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRjQCvfcXn0), Woodstock was also done by Crosby Stills Nash & Young (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKdsRWhyH30), and by Mathews Southern Comfort (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kn9hi9fAwUQ). Other artists also did this song, but CSN&Y and MSC are my favorites.

I Want You (She’s So Heavy) - BOC (Beatles Cover)

Performed live just weeks after John Lennon was murdered, the band played it as a tribute to him. The band does a great job, but the centerpiece is Buck Dharma’s outstanding guitar solo.
