GREAT COVERS OF YOUR FAVORITE SONGS

For many an original song that they love cannot and will not ever be duplicated by a cover, but there are many songs that have been done equally (debatebly) well by others..

So do you have favorites?

What are your favorite covers of favorite songs?

Shouldn't mess around and do Beatles songs, although some covers are good. Sorry @BeatleloverKT , but I really think this version is very good.

Done at the Cavern Cub. I don't think George or john, or Paul,

or Ringo wouild have objected. It's a different take on it. Real musicians

play songs their way, they don't just replicate the originals.

This is a superior guitarist, Vive la differance.!!!!

Thanks. Appreciation of a cover does not take away from the original. I still love the Beatles version. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Child In Time - Sina, ft Rob Lundgren, Andrei Cerbu, & Friends, Deep Purple cover

This song is a monster of a song, and I never thought anyone would ever cover it and do it justice. Few have even attempted it, but these kids have done it! I donโ€™t know who they are, or where theyโ€™re from, but they are exceptional musicians. Iโ€™m blown away! ๐Ÿ™€

Oh Well - Deep Purple

Fleetwood Mac (Peter Green) cover

https://youtu.be/lTfNINPcjU8

Their new album is all covers, hence the title, Turning To Crime. They havenโ€™t done covers since the 60โ€™s!
It has the bones of the original, but the feel is totally Purple. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Nice version. Fun tune to play.

I'm old school but the B3 is a nice touch.

People forget they were a blues band.

One of the few Fleetwood Mac songs I like sounds even better.  That first verse could go in the Opening Line topic too.

I Wonโ€™t Back Down - Tom Petty cover by KT Tunstall & Mike McCready (Pearl Jam)

She nails it on vocals, and Mike rocks it on guitar. My favorite Tom Petty song. They did it as a tribute to Tom. Well done! ๐Ÿ‘

Although many entertainers (Bobby Darin, Aretha Franklin, Tony Bennett, to name a few) covered Steve Allen's (Tonight Show fame) song, This Could Be The Start of Something Big. Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme 's cover from the early 1960's was an huge hit on 45 RPM. Backed by a band of outstanding musicians and their excellent vocals, makes you feel like your in Vegas listening and watching the show.

Oh my, YES!!
A very soulful & stirring cover, even humming like Paul did!
Billieโ€™s vibrato is sublime!

Shelter From The Storm from the album, Mann Alive, 1998 Manfred Mannโ€™s Earth Band

https://youtu.be/2UvZSaO-ZzE

They have covered Dylan quite a lot over the years. This one is my favorite, and possibly my favorite Dylan cover of all time. It features a outstanding duet with Noel McCalla and Chris Thompson on vocals, and two amazing guitar solos by Mick Rogers.

Personnel:

Manfred Mann - keyboards

Mick Rogers - lead guitar and vocals

John Trotter - drums

Steve Kinch - bass and backing vocals

Noel McCalla - lead vocals

Chris Thompson - guitar and vocals

I was watching some Elvis tributes and found this one by my favorite band from a 1994 show. Love that they went acoustic. ๐Ÿ‘ Nice work, Scorps!

Just heard this one today . . . and it was terrific (IMO)! The lead singer is Amanda Sommerville and her voice is amazing, a beautiful mezzo soprano. You don't hear many female singers that sing a beautiful low register like that (other than opera). And BTW, I love the Bonnie Tyler version, always have! ๐Ÿ’›

Chicago's cover of Glenn Miller's "In The Mood" is a great version, from their Night and Day: Big Band album.

Chicago performed an outstanding cover of Duke Ellington's hit song, Satin Doll. The song was featured on Dick Clark's New Years Eve in the 1970s after Chicago became a top name act/show. I believe their cover was also featured on one of their albums as well. It should be noted that when Duke had a TV tribute, he invited one rock band, Chicago. Their horn section was outstanding.
