GREAT COVERS OF YOUR FAVORITE SONGS

For many an original song that they love cannot and will not ever be duplicated by a cover, but there are many songs that have been done equally (debatebly) well by others..

So do you have favorites?

What are your favorite covers of favorite songs?

NOBODY not even the great Daryl Hall, will ever top Bill Medley & Bobby Hatfield's

version of  the classic "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'.

Everytime you go away, Paul Young, 1985.

Original done by Hall&Oates in 1980. I do like

Paulโ€™s version but he canโ€™t top Hall&Oates

Really nice version of Daryl Hall's original.

I agree the guy who wrote it it did it better.

But Paul Young had a big hit with it.

OK for English rock blues, saw them twice.

The real version is the guy that wrote it, with the great Little Walter on harp (harmonica).

It's OK. Doesn't make for a good country tune, even if  it's played

at blinding speed.

Only the Lonely  -  Roy Orbison cover by Chris Isaak

Nobody covers Roy Orbison, and other songs of this era, like Chris Isaak! He's got the voice, and he's got the vibe.  ๐Ÿ’›

I looked back quite a ways and was surprised not

to see possibly the best cover of all time:

Blinded by the light, Manfred Mann, 1976.

Original version by Bruce Springsteen, 1973.

@BeatleloverKT  -  That's probably because the MM version is the one that everybody knows, and isn't thought of as a cover. I don't remember hearing the Springsteen original, but that was a long time ago. LOL ๐Ÿ˜‚   Fantastic cover choice!

I will always love you, released in 1974 by

Dolly Parton. Covered by Whitney Houston

in 1992 for โ€œThe Bodyguardโ€ I have always

liked Dollys version but Whitney owns this

song ๐ŸŽผ๐Ÿ’œ

A few months ago I posted this comment and cover:

A lot of rock / metal / heavy metal singers have covered this, but most don't get anywhere near Paul McCartney's vocal ability to slay this song. This one gets pretty darn close . . .

Helter Skelter  -  Beatles cover by Gillan

Now I'm adding this version by Roger Daltrey that he recorded for the album, The Art of McCartney. Roger kills it. But then he does that with any song he sings!

Roger Daltrey and Ian Gillan, along with Paul McCartney are my favorite rock singers of all time. As they say, they can sing the phone book and I'd listen. ๐Ÿ˜ธ

It was actually in the rehearsals for Dream of the Blue Turtles, the band did it off the cuff to bust "Gordon's" onions. It was a crack up. The back singers sang it.

Never listened to much Disco, but:

KoRn did a good cover of Word-Up (originally by Cameo)

Red Hot Chili Peppers did a good cover of Roller Coaster of Love (originally by The Ohio Players)
