Well, we can't leave the guys out can
we? Who are your favorite male singers of any
genre? I'm not talking bands here but solo artists. Of
course, if they were in a band and also went solo you can still name
them such as Jon Bon Jovi or Richie Sambora both of whom are members
of the group Bon Jovi but have also gone solo. Here's some of
mine from times past to the present:
Frank Sinatra,
Perry Como, Dean Martin, Brook Benton, Jerry Butler, Conway Twitty,
Johnny Cash, Charley Pride, Johnny Tillotson, Donovan,
Eddie Cochran, Gene McDaniels, Glen Yarborough, Neil Young, Bob
Dylan, John Fogerty, John Mellencamp, Eric Clapton, and so many more.
You may also name
your favorite male singer from a band but not the band itself.
For instance, we all know that Diane loves the band Aerosmith
but she would say Steven Tyler.
Hi Lenny,
Do you remember what year that was that you saw Burton and Nils with Ringo's All Starr Band? I saw them both with him also and wondered if it was the same year. I also got to see Burton with The Guess Who. Did you see my photos in the group photos?
Janese
Hi Janese,it was 1992 and it was a special evening because Nils family was in the audience and Ringo being the showman he is acknowledged it to the crowd and let Nils take center stage for the longest song of the evening. The reason I said Burton Cummings stole the show in an earlier post is because he had the crowd on there feet with the medley of songs he performed and boy was his voice on that night.
Just trying to keep my list short ....
Is that the real reason or wasn't he one of your favorite Beatles? I myself wouldn't have eliminated him when naming the other three but that's just me.

Hi J
Ya I have to give it to you....... Summer of 69 is a great song. It expresses alot of great sentiments that I think we all can relate to : )
D.
as for the system and the problems yes it gets old. Copy and paste doesn't always work but sometimes it saves me. If I am doing a long post to someone I might even copy it to an email and leave it there till I see it is updated here. Should you have to, def. no. Sorry you are so aggrevated. Hope things clear up soon.
Oh yeah, and how about "Everything I Do (I Do It For You)? Great song.
Don't worry about my aggrevations. I was just venting. Things clear up but unfortunately they don't last long. Been kicked off several times today.
J.
Hey, do you all remember
this........ It was one of John Belushi's best bits
IMHO : )
1976 - Joe Cocker appears on NBC-TV's ``Saturday
Night Live.'' He performs a duet of ``Feelin' Alright'' with John
Belushi in which Belushi does a memorable Cocker imitation.
Diane
Sure I remember and it was great but does that mean John Belushi is one of your favorite male singers? LOL

Thanks for the tip but copy/paste doesn't always work and I spend enough time messing around with this site. I've been in three times trying to answer all the posts that keep piling up and I'll get one done and then I go to answer another and I get the oops again. Had to go all the way out and wait and come back. I'm really getting very fed up with the whole thing.
Getting back to Bryan Adams "Cuts Like A Knife" is great but my favorite is the "Summer of 69" even though 1969 is the year I married my first husband and those memories aren't pleasant I still love the song.

I have gotten into the habit of copying every post I do before I hit the reply button so if I get the dreaded oops I don't have to go back and retype everything ... not to mention that I don't remember everything haha
Bryan Adams; "Cuts Like a Knife" !!!!

all right on a roll...Steven Tyler, Freddie Mercury, Eddie Vedder, The Dells, Stylistics, Frankie Valli, somebody stop me...Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Huey!, Fogleberg....outta control....
Hey D.,
Well, I posted a
long message here yesterday and got the oops. Seems you picked
another one that is not a favorite of mine but that's okay.
"In the Air Tonight" is about the only song I do like by
this group but they are favorites of my girlfriend Barb and as I've
probably told you she is not a fan of Bon Jovi so I don't mind
your liking them too. Maybe one day I'll give them more of a
shot but I just never could stand Phil.
I did want to
mention another singer that we may have forgotten here and that's
Canadian singer Bryan Adams.

Well, you've certainly come up with quite a list. Some mentioned before and some not but let me ask you this how can you have George, Paul and Ringo on your list and not include John Lennon?
Just trying to keep my list short ....

How about Burton Cummings, saw him with Ringo's all star bandand he stole the show.Great vocals! Lenny
Burton Cummings is great! Janese posted some pics of him in July in our group pics. They should be on the 4th page of pictures.
Somebody just mentioned wanting to see Ringo's All Star Band. I think it was Adrian in the topic of groups you want to see. Geez my memory lasts for about 5 seconds sometimes.
Diane
Boy I have not heard the name Jessie Colin Young in a very long time. A New York guy and some great songs including "Darkness Darkness".

And one of my all time favorites, taken before his time, Chris Ledoux.
Hi
All great; reminded me that I have not heard much from Garth Brooks lately and yes Chris Ledoux of course when you think of him you automatically think of Garth. His loss was a sad story. Thanks for mentioning him.
Diane
Ya
Count the number of times you couldn't hear after a concert and then the number of minutes/hours it took to get the hearing back and it probably means something : )
D.
I know what it means. It means that if I keep it up I may lose my hearing. Once at a Jan & Dean concert I couldn't hear until the following day. I was also hoarse from singing along.

Hi Lenny,
Some good choices there. I don't think any are duplicates except maybe Queen and who cares they're well worth repeating.
Janese
I'm sure many of the artists do suffer from hearing loss but you just haven't heard about it. Many singers now use earplugs just for that reason as do many fans. I'm not one of them. I know I should but I can't stand having anything in my ear so I guess it'll be closed captioned tv for me in my later years.

Hi J
You know I never thought about hearing loss for the artists, mostly the audience : ) but it is a wonder that any of them don't have that problem considering the years and years of loud music exposure.
Hey, maybe Mick should write a how to book for those other guys : )

Hi D.,
Well, that sounds good to me. Speaking of not being able to hear I learned that Eric Clapton now has hearing problems. He spoke of this in his book. He also has indigestion issues and back problems and that's why touring has gotten harder for him. Maybe Mick could teach him a few tricks. LOL

Now J
I think you have hit on
something there!!!!
How about a big giant
make up concert for the AARP set; those fans that have supported
them through thick and thin and forty years of concerts and CDs
and records and 8 tracks and tapes and all...........
Wow what a concert
that would be !!!! We better hurry up though while they can
still play and we can still hear LOL
D.

Hi D.,
You are so
right. Some artists do give you your money's worth. Take
Bruce Springsteen for instance. He definitely gave the fans at
the Harley Fest their money's worth and then some playing for 3 1/2
hours. Neil Diamond has always played for at least 2 hrs. and
20 minutes everytime that I saw him. Sometimes the artists are
so into the show I think it's as hard for them to leave as it is for
us. If the crowd is enthusiastic they will be too.
I'm sure the artists would feel
pretty stupid if everyone left and it is true that they do have big
egos and sometimes they let their egos get the best of them.
I'm sure Steven Tyler and the boys aren't the only ones that realize
what crappy shows they gave when they were screwed up. After
just reading Eric Clapton's book I can tell you that he too feels
that way. I think they all owe us a free concert to make up
for it. LOL
Janese

Well as far as I am
concerned the fans and the artists are all in this together and It
is not all about money. Some of the artists will practically
stay as long as somebody is out there listening and others are out
of there asap.
You are right that once
you have bought your ticket they got ya. I remember Steven
Tyler and the boys talkin about how after they got straight and
started touring again how embarrassed they were by the crap shows
they had given their fans during the bad years and they were
right, they did and at least they realized it and give you your
moneys worth now. But I think artists have egos too and I
just bet if everybody got up and left they would feel pretty darn
stupid. plus it would be great on the news : )
So all of you artists reading this..... you better give us
your best or else. LOL

Hi D.,
I'm sure tearing his pantsuit
didn't bother him in the least. I'm sure he got a laugh out of
it too.
It is
inconsiderate of the artists to make fans wait for so long and it's
also inconsiderate when they don't play long enough. I know
Hank Williams Jr. has gone on stage for very short periods and just
left. People pay good money and should at least get a two hour
concert. It would be funny if they all left but then again it
wouldn't hurt the artist unless you protested by not buying tickets
to a different concert since he or she already got your money from
this one.
