DANCE To The Music - Dance Songs
On April 9th 1983, David Bowieโs โLetโs Danceโ hit No1 on the UK singles chart, his 4th of 5 UK No.1 hits (along with โSpace Oddityโ (1975), โAshes to Ashesโ (1980), โUnder Pressureโ with Queen (1981), and subsequently โDancing in the Streetโ with Mick Jagger (1985). Unbeknownst to me, the song featured blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan. In re-listening to the song, I can hear his licks, though I feel Bowie severely underused his talent.
Bowieโs song lends the theme of todayโs playlist, songs featuring the word โDanceโ in their title, with a few โDancedโ songs thrown in for good measure. Though โDancingโ songs are not included, as they will be the topic of a future playlist.
Along with Bowieโs classic, some other greats include the likes of โDo You Wanna Dance,โ โDance The Night Away,โ โDance To The Music,โ โI Wanna Dance With Somebody,โ โLast Dance,โ โDance With Me,โ โDonโt Forget to Dance,โ โSafety Dance,โ and โDance Hall Days.โ

I hope that this music and my blog truly serve as a โrevival: a new presentation of something old,โ a springboard to return to the music of your youth, or perhaps to find artists you want to discover anew. Rediscover the passion of music in your life. Live in the moment. Enjoy the moment. Love the moment. Listen (and Dance) to the MUSIC!

This is, imho, the best dance song (rivaling Sly and the Family Stone's "Dance to the Music"...).
Thanks for a great subject!

made this list public since the songs seem so popular - not yet finished and haven't blogged about it - eventually (I have over 250 playlists, have only released 50 or 60 so far):
