Best Concert You’ve Gone To — Or Want To Go To?

For me it would have to be James Taylor, at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, recently. I don’t think anything will ever top that entire experience!  😀  Billy Joel, as well as Bruce, would be next on my list of concerts that I’ve been to that were absolutely fantastic.

Any concert that tops your list, or one you hope to go to?

There used to be a night club in Boston back in the day, not far from Fenway Park..They always booked "famous"acts but the interesting marketing part was they would never tell anyone who it was until after you had paid the cover to get in.. I went once, paid my cover, got my hand stamped and after I was inside I asked a bouncer who was playing.. The Eagles he said.. THE EAGLES I repeated????  He just sort of snorted at me and walked off.. Best $7.50 I ever spent..

Sounds idyllic!  A little hidden nightclub - what a perfect spot for an up close and personal concert!  And wondering who would be up on the stage adds to the excitement….. wow!

Gold Conversationalist

Oh man that sounds cool.  How exciting not knowing who to expect.  And the Eagles!  It’s like those mystery bags that a store sells, and you know it’ll be filled with stuff that may be cheaper than what you paid or just odd or funny, but the fun of it is the mystery gamble.  For a nightclub though, how fun!

Best concert I ever went to post college was to see Robert Zimmerman. Seats were so close that we could almost touch him.

While in college, my school had a Woodstock type concert every year with the likes of James Taylor, Joe Cocker, B.B. King, Johnny Cash, and Chuck Berry in attendance.

….sometimes the venue had a visceral impact upon me.  I saw the Ramones and Patti Smith at CBGBs - with the music and the edgy vibe dovetailing perfectly together.  A simply perfect seedy dive!

Along the same vein, when we were on the West Coast back in the early 80s,  the Roxy was where we saw Muddy Waters, the Stray Cats, Laurie Anderson and Joe Jackson.  Each concert had its unique intense blend of people that enhanced the music experience.

Back then the Cow Palace was the best venue ever!

Yes, I agree.  The best is when everyone experiences it together, when you can look around and actually feel united in the moment and that’s such a cool experience.

Any concert at Red Rocks is excellent, no matter the performer(s). Have lived in 7 states and multiple major cities; the best concert venue is Red Rocks!

Agree.  I was utterly speechless.   Every moment I took in, just incredible feeling being there.  I don’t know if I’ll have another chance to be there again, but would love to.  Highly recommend it at least once to all. Breathtaking.

Not sure if this qualifies as a concert: Many

years ago I was in San Francisco on business.

I came up to my room to change for an evening

function I didn’t really want to go to. I heard this amazing music outside and thought it sounded

like the Moody Blues. I went out on my balcony

and it WAS the Moody Blues. It was like they

were right next door! I changed into my pj’s

and poured a glass of wine and sat out there

for a wonderful free concert of a group I

absolutely love!

Was this years ago or decades ago? This sounds like the first time I saw Moody Blues live, at the Cow Palace...

Whoa!  So were they performing there, rehearsing or what?  Your own personal concert! Wow!  Just got a flashback to Nights in White Satin, listening in the old clunky headphones of the 70’s.  You’ve got a ton of cool experiences!

Just saw that come across social media feed.  Female drummer on board I’ve heard.  Not sure if that’s true, but heard it talked about.

If I had to pick just two concerts that I wish I could attend, and if if wishes really could come true, it would be The Beatles anytime around ‘68/‘69, and Jim Croce at a folk festival or coffeehouse in ‘72.

The Beatles, BTDT; nothing there (imo packaged advert being sold by massive machine)... my first concert was CCR; that was a wonder!

Jim Croce, yes, that would be excellent, then Jim or Jimi (preferably together would have been great), and if not so would have left our earthly bonds after seeing Janis...

Yesssss! Beatles would’ve been one for the books, would’ve loved that myself.  And I’m picturing Croce in that coffeehouse.  👍

Yes! I had a feeling those would’ve been your wishes, or you had already gone to them.   Knowing how many of those great Beatles songs you put up.  Nothing comes close to that band in my eyes.👍

I have been to many concerts. All were excellent.

I’ve seen in no particular order:

Fleetwood Mac (3x)

Madonna (2x)

Cyndi Lauper

David Bowie (So close I could almost touch him)

Beach Boys

ELO

Huey Lewis and the News (Again such close seats)

Rod Stewart (So far away he was a speck on the stage)

Hall&Oates (I saw them for $5 before fame set in)

If I had to pick one, it would be the second time I saw The Mac because we took our 12 y.o.son with us. It was great to share that experience with him even tho he fell asleep and we had to wake him for the finale

That’s a great list of musicians you’ve seen!  I was able to see Huey Lewis 😎 and was really good.

That’s awesome you shared that experience of Fleetwood Mac with your son.  That’s a memory for sure!

Hall and Oats for $5, blows my mind.  Everyone starts somewhere, and you can say you saw them at the start.

Would’ve loved to have seen Madonna!
