Buyer Beware for the Best Buy GC. This is no fault of AARP. If you purchase one of these, I would NOT recommend using towards an online purchase through Best Buy. I used one before but the item I was trying to purchase was out of stock. Best Buy would not give me the 5.00 back towards another purchase. Best Buy told me that I can only use the gift card once. My opinion is that since the item was out of stock, they could’ve easily returned and allowed me to reuse that same gift card, since it was never used. I will never purchase a Best Buy GC. Again, it’s no fault of AARP.

Oh wow, I would’ve gone up the ladder with Best Buy to dispute that one, that’s obnoxiously wrong.

They told me the only way I could handle that is to call or use the chat customer service. To call or use the chat gets you the same results, which was nothing. They don’t have a corporate number to reach out to. I’ve tried so many different things and they all treated me the same. It was a horrible experience. I just couldn’t understand the “you can only use a gift card once” thing when it was never used since they didn’t have it in stock. It made no sense at all.

That doesn't sound correct! I have bought and returned things with using BestBuy gift cards all the time and have gotten a new gift card. They do have reward certificate and that I know you can't get it back even if it was out of stock or you return an item.Maybe that's what your referring to or maybe they are not understanding, but yes you do get your gift card back if you return something. I just did it a few weeks ago.

Please specify if you ordered your item(s) on line. On line is much different than in the store. I’ve gotten stuff in the store already, not with gift cards, and had no issues. On Best Buy site, it’s a much different than process and not a very good one either.

Thanks for the warning @Rocky818 . I had NOT planned on using it "online". Sounds like this was "maybe" a LOCATION "decision". Did you contact the CORPORATE OFFICE?

You’re very welcome. Great idea to use it in store only. These experiments are definitely important to share. I wouldn’t want anyone else to experience that same thing.

I got one as well, now I am done for the month. I didn't hold out for Amazon or Walmart like I was planning.

Regular Contributor

I try to hold out as well but it’s never a guarantee you will find what you may be looking for. I do like that it seems as if they are spreading them out more now so that we aren’t all on our accounts at midnight the first day of the month.

Yes Maria @MariaK113398 , I was wondering IF you "gave in" too.

*** I am also done for the month. 👍

Take care my friend,

Nicole  🤗💛

I figured I'd miss out on Amazon or Walmart since they sell out so fast.....
