Eureka! Use Search Operators to FILTER FOR Gift Cards!
I don’t know why I hadn’t done this before, as I used it in my old computer days.
Boolean Search Operators.
Im still tinkering with it, but wanted to see if it would work if I filtered out Greeting cards, guides, and subscriptions, coloring books. So far so good. Trying to see if other strings will work for say New, or Points with plus operator after.
Try this this
1.Once in Redeem for all Rewards
2. Go to Sort area and you’ll see the SEARCH box next to it it. ( where it gives an example you can put in like restaurant)
3 Put this below in that box which is what you are going to search. No spaces between the minus and word you want to exclude from your search, but space between next word
-Subscription -Guide -Coloring -Greeting
I’m still tinkering but so far works the way I want. Hoping something doesn’t fall through the cracks. Next up will be if I can do just Points only or New. With plus sign.

Hi SereneSeagull
it has been quite a few months ago that I posted my search string
POINTS -GREETING -COLORING -STREAMING -BUNDLE -SWEEPSTAKES -BEAUTY -CINEMARK -CALENDAR -TRUST -CONTRIBUTION -SUBSCRIPTION -INSTANT -NFLShop -LEGACY -HOLIDAY
this string has worked fine in the past and I played around with other scenarios but had trouble with the + sign. IDK but this string has started missing some gift cards ever since we had that long maintenance shutdown a few months ago.
In my post I had ask for some assistance with using the + sign in my string but was told the Boolean Search Operators would not work with AARP’s search filter, yet as you can see the - minus works ???
Keep trying, you may hit on something we can all use since AARP’s search filter doesn’t work and it appears they are in no hurry to fix it.
Regardless the outcome let me hear from you on your findings, either post a reply or you can private message me.
Thanks. lucyp

Hi SereneSeagull
well, this morning my old faithful search string really put me down. It was not finding very many “points only gift cards” which was the reason I constructed my string.
as someone had posted earlier (which I think was you) just do a search with DINING & RETAIL FOR POINTS.
That seams to find most of the points only gift cards, which is all I am interested in anyway.
Maybe some day support will fix the search thingy.
i do suspect that admin has deliberately caused the search to go “Wonky” because they do not want us finding the points only cards, and give up searching and go purchase them.
It’s all about the $$$$$$$$

Hi, @rednexsrus, yes I tried your string yesterday and it didn’t work the way I bet it did in the past. But I was excited at your hard work on that string, and enjoyed the prospect of it! Thank you.
The Outback card yesterday is one that slipped through the cracks even when searching with the site’s filter for cards for points only. Got it with my search string. They’re keeping our minds alert for sure!

If it's any consolation I don't understand it either, but I would never call myself dumb and ignorant and you shouldn't either. We all have diferent skill sets and should be proud of what we do know and not worry about what we don't know, that's what Google is for !

[12/11/25] Yes Maria @MariaK113398 , AARP makes it so "easy" to find their "no" points giftcards. Lol, even I can find them. 😂 Luv your post dear friend, Nicole 💛

So glad you can Nicole, that’s wonderful. As I and others can readily do as well.
Since the search has been wonky lately with the moderators admitting they have been, with cards for points filter not working correctly, others like myself are finding creative ways to help with search ideas to help find the cards when the wonky search drops them. It’s fun helping people as you know.
Thanks for dropping by!
😉

[12/11/25] Dear Nelda @neldat357771 , at age 67 I guess IF I "cared" I would have maybe researched all this. Personally I just use the AARP SEARCH TOOLS and have "no" problem finding the "no" points giftcards each day when I sign into my AARP REWARDS ACCOUNT. My advice dear friend, NEVER call yourself names & let other members do their thing. You are just fine!!! Take care, Nicole 💛
