Good morning to Everyone on Our Front Porch!
Wishing you all well this last day of the month of August. Over the past week or so, temps here have been in the mid to upper 70s which truly makes for very comfortable days indeed. Gone are those sweltering days of 90 and 100 degrees. They are now, for me, just a distant memory. And that's okay with me!
Still have so many projects in and around my home which at the beginning of Spring, I had such great ambitions to tackle and complete. Now, I'll be lucky to get one or two of the major ones done. For as we are moving closer to Fall, I feel myself slowing down and my gusto...not so. Smile. But I am glad for the projects I did get done and am just happy to still yet be here!
So for everyone rising this morning to meet another beautiful day, I say "Rise and Shine!" And have a great day and enjoy August's last weekend.

Greetings,
Does anyone remember the slinky, well August 30th was National Slinky Day. Growing up my siblings and I used to race them down the stairs. Things sure have changed. The simplest little toy used to keep us entertained for hours. I think there was even a jingle.
Hope everyone is enjoying life and is safe.
New Jersey has been great weather wise 👍👏. I was able to pack and send some boxes .
Just going to a BBQ today, some of my friends are putting on a small concert. Oh course, this is after the weekly share in Asbury Park. Enjoy your day and please be Happy and Safe.

@n566192l, I remember the Slinky! Oh yes, great fun and hours of fascination.
♫ It's Slinky, It's Slinky
for fun the best of the toys.
It's Slinky, It's Slinky
the favorite of girls and boys. ♫
Do they still do a Mummers Parade in Asbury Park? I remember seeing it years ago. 60s perhaps?
@Frozenoem, what a beautiful clear starry night to experience. Kudos on a great picture.

Hi, All on the porch,
Guess we'll be closing this one when Dave gets a chance to get the next one ready.
Saturday was another nice day to add to the Labor Day weekend. Friday was pretty hot, but with the lower humidity, I didn’t mind that as much. I did have to close the sliding door and put on the AC in the family room Friday night while I was working and watching TV. The neighbors next door were having a huge BBQ and the noise and smell of smoke was drifting in. I didn’t want to have smoked doll clothes to put up on Ebay! LOL.
Had my coffee on the porch yesterday morning which was so delightful, and then my wine out there in the evening. I'd do the coffee again today out there, but I have to get ready to list my auctions on Ebay.
On Friday, a customer in Canada bought 7 of my doll outfits with a “Buy it Now!” Wahoo! Life is good. N.
Love this!

68* and sunny an improvement over last night or this mornings 40-ish, went up to Rangeley and Upton for photos of Northern Lights.
Glad I used my tripod, bit of a nip to the air.
Up country lights

Good morning everyone on the Front Porch on this last Friday of August, 2019! Yesterday was an all around great day for golf and being outside.
Have you all been planning anything special for the Labor day weekend?
We will have a getaway with our family over the weekend. Some golf with my two son-in-laws on Sunday and a cookout.
Hoping you have a restful weekend and stay safe if you are in the path of the incoming hurricane or other bad weather.
Tonight will be the open game of the Wisconsin Badger's football season .
Go Bucky Go!

75* and partly cloudy, admit it have been practicing breathing and movement again.
Looking forward to and charging batteries on cameras for another shot at Aurora , come Saturday and Sunday evenings. Supposedly viewable in parts of Maine, Vermont and perhaps even NY state. New Jersey I just don’t know about, looks like a good show if clouds remain away🤣.

Good morning to everyone on the Front Porch on this last Wednesday of August!
Monday's golf was a total rainout as we had rain most of the day. We have had nice cooler days the last to days. The next few days should be more of the same.
Who is getting ready for the Holiday weekend?
Looking forward to golf tomorrow and a weekend with the family.

Good morning to everyone on the Front Porch today! We are looking at a weekend with milder weather and highs in the mid 70's with no major rain storms in the long range forecast.
Yesterday was a great day to be out side and golfing. We had a four man team best ball tournament. My group ended up tied for 2nd place.
This weekend will be spent trying to clean up the flower gardens by cutting out the unwanted things that show up every year along with the dried up daylilies.

Hello, Everyone!
LOL! It was 66 when I woke up this AM and now it’s 64. Kind of got caught in a bit of rain as I did my bi-monthly bank, Fresh Market, Starbucks, etc. shopping trip. I did have an umbrella, but wished I had a jacket with a hood since it’s difficult to manage a purse, shopping bags, cane and umbrella. After I got a little damp, I thought I might ice up in the one grocery store I went to…AC was still at full blast.
But, oh, what a difference from the last 5 heat wave days!
Hoping the rain holds off now as tonight is our monthly Chinese restaurant night.
Praying for the plovers and panthers and Amazon rainforests!
Have a good weekend.
Glad I had coffee and then Starbucks because…

Consider this proof I live, just taking some days off to rest up.
Need to food , time to stagger.

@Frozenoem The kudo is for being alive, not the mishap.
I am feeling human again after the cool down and the look of fall outside. I am so happy every year when summer apears to be over. We were supposed to get rain but alas did not. Two inches short for the month. Very, very dusty. The last mowing was a mess. We are heading into the dry months so if it does not rain the grass will not grow much.

The weather roller-coaster continues here in middle Georgia. A storm passed through on Saturday, putting a temporary end to our mid-90 temperatures. Yesterday the high was 79 and the heat actually came on in my house so I had the a/c and the heat going at the same time. We will soon be back to normal, although it would be nice to think that the time for the high 90's has passed.

Hi, Everyone,
Yes! I am loving this weather! In the high 50's when I woke up. A little chilly with those bedroom windows open, but loved being under the comforter. This will last for a few more days before we go back into the 80's. I'll take what I can get. Put on a long sleeved shirt today!
AC was not on in the post office for a change. usually that place is ffff-reezing.
Meanwhile...Happy International Dog Day...
Spend some time with a friend.
Time for coffee!

Good afternoon to everyone on the Front Porch on this Tuesday in August. Golf was a bit of a challenge for our group of four today. The rough had not been mowed in several days and the fairway was wet form dew. Not the greatest of playing conditions to say the least and our score card reflected it.
The weather for the next several days is for a high of 80* and a low chance of rain. Hoping golfing is better Thursday morning. How are those of you doing on the East coast dealing with the possibility of heat, rain and wind today?
As for the iced tea vs iced coffee I like both. I buy unsweetened iced tea by the gallon bottled from the store and I use leftover coffee to make iced coffee.

As long as the temps don’t hit 88-90*+, I’m golden. Above those temps I melt.
Rain ask me Wednesday, lightning same just checked the connection on my lightning rods, every year.
Sweet tea like the Arizona brand is great, the stuff they used to serve in some chain restaurants in the south were good for gagging - too much sugar. Shoney’s maybe?
As for iced coffee here, cold brew only served in restaurants in town. The leftover hot coffee becomes ice cubes. Same as @n566192l .
Time to return to search for elusive 3,4, and 5amp AGC fuses, finally dragged the speakers into house, and my Amp needs fuses.
Or else the possible *-in-law will be wounded, for touching my 50 year old speakers. Have had them awhile and don’t want to re-cone or re-solder connections, ever🤣.

Good morning to everyone on our Front Porch on Monday August 19th. It is 64* now with a high of 81 with sunny skies today. An early start today because of an early tee time today. Tomorrow I will have to get up earlier because of an 8:00AM tee time.
Hoping everyone has a great week!

Good morning to everyone on this cloudy and rainy day on my Front Porch! Yesterday was a nice day on the golf course but I must have left my game in the back of my car as I was just not hitting ball well on several shots.
Hoping everyone has a great weekend! There seems to be a touch of Fall in the air today so I hope we get several more weeks of Summer.

No fall here in VA yet, but that's OK. I can do without hottest Julys on record, but not really into cold weather at all.
My deck is getting ripped up today. It's ground level, but stepping out front door may require some acrobatics. Balance beam, anybody? It's because it is on ground level (and I am told built in winter on frozen ground) that it is rotting out due to ground moisture, so time for new deck. One advantages of having a landlord, they fix broken stuff.

Please don’t say Fall not yet. It’s still 73* and have no desire to start hauling in firewood. I actually filled my oil tank.
I hear you on landlords and wouldn’t mind one about now.
The joy of opening a garage door at -35* this winter, and not noticing that it was frozen in ice says, I need to fix top section and replace broken glass.🤬🤬
Hate contractor grade, finger jointed crap doors, at least the barn doors lasted 80 years. These new ones replaced sections twice in 15 years.
Time to play insanity has passed.

@LydiaN586309 Glad you are better and quite cheery after your ordeal. @Frozenoem Any signs of your medical probing coming to an end?
@MsStretch We were far from having the hottest July on record, just 2 very miserable days, the rest of the time just normal July discomfort but I am ready for fall. I have been ready since Memorial Day.
Hubby went to mow at the homestead last week and I asked for pictures. He handed me his phone and what did I see? Kudzu, the vine that ate the south! Fairly small patch of it but even that is too much.

1 year later no 🤬 answers. Only know what it isn’t. Poking, prodding, continues weekly - my list of specialists is growing exponentially.

There may be recipe for safe eradication, worked for friend in MO, after spraying 4 times. 1 Gallon vinegar, 1 C Salt, a dash of dishwashing liquid (Dawn) in a garden sprayer.
@LydiaN586309 Don’t say Fall it’s a dirty word up here. Glad your surgery was hitchless.👍
Re: Fall October 14 last year - our first blizzard that lasted. Really don’t want to think of Autumn for awhile. The first and one of my earliest 3 foot snowfalls🤣, in memory.
Besides still need to get new belts for snowblower and re-set bead on tire.
Now I need to haul my speakers in from garage, have hand truck 👍, they seem to be getting heavier. Need room for firewood.
Time to cover my posterior - extreme climate change is happening now in Maine.
Figure it’s best to just stock up on just in case firewood, and clean the furnace. Another -35 to -65* Winter could cause me to pull a Medea.
Temp 67* and humid.
