Catch The Spirit!

We watched this 87 year old Capra classic last night and we’re still talking about how this movie certainly has withstood the test of time.  Its timeless message still rings true.

….there have been countless versions over the years, but this one remains my favorite no matter how many times I’ve watched it.   The book is worth a re-read too!

We watched this sweet little TV Special last night.  Despite its charming story and powerful message, it seems to have vanished into the mists of time.  Well worth a look if you can find it.

An unadulterated view of Christmas through childhood’s lens.  It’s not in everyone’s “top ten”, but we now watch it every December.  A silly, fun bit of nostalgia.

I still appreciate this movie, but when I remember that Macaulay Culkin is now 45 years old, I feel ancient! 🤭

Macaulay Culkin recently said his young kids don’t realize that Kevin is their dad! So he can still watch it with them & just enjoy it. Adorable

Wow, that makes me feel old too.I felt bad enough that I was much older than a Hula Hoop. 😊

I’ve watched this gentle movie countless times.  While I’ve always been fond of the Crooners from the 40s and 50s, I am never more so than during the holiday season.  This movie is worth a watch just to hear Bing sing Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo-Ral.  🎶

This is definitely a movie that shows its age, but I still find it enjoyable and we always seem to watch it during Thanksgiving week.  The sets are fantastical, but I do remember that the Three Little Pigs frightened me when I was 5 years old.  It’s just a good old-fashioned “good triumphs over evil” movie with a dollop of whimsy!

      Joyous Thanksgiving to everyone!

At the risk of being irreverent,  I still find the ‘WKRP in Cincinnati’  “Turkeys Away” episode funny.  I loved this show in High School, and it seems to have been forgotten.  (Those poor turkeys!) If you can find it, you might enjoy it.  🦃

We loved that show. So many memorable scenes and lines. I felt bad for the turkeys, but then had to laugh at   "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly".

This movie is dear to me because one of its themes is the hardships that many post World War II veterans and their families faced.

It is a sweet movie - not perfect - but it did garner a 7.6/10 on IMBd.  It’s not a Christmas movie, but it has a lovely ten minute Christmas Eve scene towards the end.

It’s implausible and a bit dated, but its parable still rings true.  Try it - you might like it!

I remember that one @LisaS961881 , very good show, thanks. But, it made me think of another movie like it and I can't remember the title and searching for it didn't work.

Oh, I’m glad that you remember it.  I’ll be posting some more vintage movies, so hopefully one will be what you are thinking of.  Way back when I was a tween, I “discovered” old movies like these, as well as ones like the Sherlock Holmes series with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, and the Thin Man series.  And geez, these movies were already old when I was a kid, so they’re ancient now!

Got me to thinking, who voiced her in that movie.  Voice was June Foray, who voiced many characters over the years.  Including the Granny in Loony Tunes.

Getting to be a long list of Christmas movies.

So let me ask you, do you consider the Bruis Willis group of Die-Hard movies to be Christmas movies?

I don't.

For me and those I know it’s a traditional must-watch during that time, specifically.  It’s more for the traditional quirky aspect of doing it mainly.  Repeating the famous lines as they are said.
