Catch The Spirit!
We watched this 87 year old Capra classic last night and weโre still talking about how this movie certainly has withstood the test of time. Its timeless message still rings true.
โฆ..if you havenโt seen it yet, please just give it a chance!

Here are two whimsical tales with Edmund Gwenn in roles that are custom made for him. The first is very well-known, while the second is not. In the first, he is Santa, and in the second, a counterfeiter. In both, he is a kind, well-meaning old soul.

Iโve watched this gentle movie countless times. While Iโve always been fond of the Crooners from the 40s and 50s, I am never more so than during the holiday season. This movie is worth a watch just to hear Bing sing Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo-Ral. ๐ถ

This is definitely a movie that shows its age, but I still find it enjoyable and we always seem to watch it during Thanksgiving week. The sets are fantastical, but I do remember that the Three Little Pigs frightened me when I was 5 years old. Itโs just a good old-fashioned โgood triumphs over evilโ movie with a dollop of whimsy!
Joyous Thanksgiving to everyone!

At the risk of being irreverent, I still find the โWKRP in Cincinnatiโ โTurkeys Awayโ episode funny. I loved this show in High School, and it seems to have been forgotten. (Those poor turkeys!) If you can find it, you might enjoy it. ๐ฆ

This movie is dear to me because one of its themes is the hardships that many post World War II veterans and their families faced.
It is a sweet movie - not perfect - but it did garner a 7.6/10 on IMBd. Itโs not a Christmas movie, but it has a lovely ten minute Christmas Eve scene towards the end.
Itโs implausible and a bit dated, but its parable still rings true. Try it - you might like it!

I remember that one @LisaS961881 , very good show, thanks. But, it made me think of another movie like it and I can't remember the title and searching for it didn't work.

Oh, Iโm glad that you remember it. Iโll be posting some more vintage movies, so hopefully one will be what you are thinking of. Way back when I was a tween, I โdiscoveredโ old movies like these, as well as ones like the Sherlock Holmes series with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, and the Thin Man series. And geez, these movies were already old when I was a kid, so theyโre ancient now!
