sign up gift cooler
Hello, I signed up for AARP for the first time in October last year after getting a mailing offering a "grab and go cooler" (the mailer referenced my upcoming birthday) but haven't received the cooler yet or any kind of gift. I signed up online instead of sending in the card, was the gift contingent on using the card? Thanks

Thanks for being a member, @MaryH172567. Not every offer to join or renew comes with a gift. If you redeemed a gift offer and haven't received it send us a private message with your name and address, and we'd be happy to check on the gift for you. Visit https://aarp.info/47hWcl7 for directions on how to enable private messages. - Brandon C.

Well I received an offer in the mail for a discounted rate of $15.00/year membership because of my birthday and would also receive a "grab 'n go" cooler. But after looking over some reviews it seems that there's a problem or backlog. I'm pretty sure there's not much time being wasted when AARP collects membership fees, as that's priority. Now the cooler, it'll arrive when it arrives.

About to renew after never receiving my gift last time-which I really wanted. A small rolling luggage bag, as I work in a school. I received NOTHING. However, I do enjoy AARP's benefits so I'm going to renew and HOPE that the birthday gift I'm promised shows up as described.

Hello, Janet. Joined in Dec. 2025 and gift was the grab & go cooler, too. Received nothing as of yesterday. Today received a Large red cooler that is not a grab & go Anything. It would be super heavy to try & carry with anything in it. Called a third time, and will hopefully get the grab & go. Still havenโt received a magazine, either. May get one in April. When a gift to join is marketed to get noticed by the consumer, you want that gift. You can wear the Grab & Go cooler on your shoulder, itโs black. & all of your things can go in multiple small pockets. Still have the card itโs pictured on. Maybe AARP should just send this gift to all of the new members! Nobody needs an extra cooler. (At least a lot of us donโt) Still waiting! Carolyn ๐ค๐ผ

Thank you for replying, but when I tried following your directions and went to "How to enable..." it says:
Click on My Settings in the top right corner of the community
Select the Preferences Tab
Select the Private Messenger Tab
Ensure the box labeled Turn On Private Messages is checked
Click Save
But there is no "Private Messenger" Tab. Under the Preferences tab there are only Preference Options, Display, Linear Layout, Threaded Layout, Home Page, Privacy, and Kudos tabs.
Thanks
