Power Bank AARP42944 Won't work

It appears that the charging port was not populated.  When you plug in the charging cord it does not appear to do anything and when you look at the receptacle it is only a plastic hole with no electrical contacts.  Of course the charging light does not come on.

The battery I have does have contacts in the charging port, however they are badly bent so that they are up against the smaller side of the micro plug.  I went in with a sharp pointed tool and bent them towards the larger flat side of the plug.  I then plugged in a micro connector and the red light started to blink indicating the battery was charging.  Missing and bent contacts is a sign of really bad manufacturing with poor (or no) quality control.  The sheet says it was made in China.  Good luck everyone!
