AARP Driver Safety Courses in West Tennessee and Memphis / Bylaws -Thank you

Can anyone can help connect me with contacts for our AARP Driver Safety courses in West Tennessee, including the Memphis area and surrounding counties?
Additionally, I would appreciate any guidance on where I can obtain a copy of AARP’s nonprofit bylaws, as I would like to review them as part of my interest in volunteering. A link for either would be great 🙂

Hey Woodson @WoodsonM93430 , have you researched to see IF there are any AARP Chapters in your area or state?

For example, here in Virginia I have a "local" Roanoke chapter for my area.

And the "main" one in Richmond.

Posting on THIS AARP Community Board does zero as the folks who can "help" you (AARP employees) donot hang out here. Just members.

Great that you are volunteering. We have a VERY ACTIVE set of volunteers here in Roanoke of ALL ages now that age 18+ are allowed to join.

Take care,

Nicole!

Nicole— thank you for the suggestion 🙂

Yes, I’ve researched this extensively and have reached out directly to AARP Tennessee in Franklin by both email and phone on countless occasions over the course of nearly two years. I've even tried our national #. Unfortunately, I received only one response from the TN AARP office, which stated that they do not have the legally required AARP bylaws available and that the bylaws are not accessible to members.

I’ve served on several nonprofit boards over the years, including a prominent Nashville‑area aging advocacy nonprofit, so I’m familiar with typical governance, volunteer onboarding, and transparency practices. That experience is why I’ve been so surprised—and frankly discouraged—by my attempts to volunteer or engage meaningfully with AARP, especially given that I am both a dues‑paying member and have made additional donations.

I agree this Community Board is member‑to‑member, but I raised the issue here only after exhausting all other reasonable avenues with state and local AARP offices. If someone has a specific introduction or escalation contact that actually works within AARP Tennessee, I would sincerely appreciate it. Otherwise, I would have raised these concerns earlier through normal community forums had those pathways been functional.

Additionally, AARP TN employs several lobbyists yet I have no idea what state legislature bills we are supporting or opposing.

Thank you again for responding, and I’m glad to hear volunteering is working well in Roanoke.
