AARP App. Needs work. Discriminatory.

Hi There, Dan here, I just joined and was real excited about diving into all that AARP is about until I was invited to download the AARP App. When I tried to download it, it immediately responded to me with the message : โ€œUnable to continue. You need to have OS16 or higher/later

whatever It was. Iโ€™ve come across this message with other companies and I just delete them but AARP is supposed to be for โ€œSeniorsโ€ (who, almost all, are on fixed incomes, and canโ€™t afford a $1000.00 fancy phone). I am extremely disappointed with AARP concerning this issue. You canโ€™t tell me that these MBA Computer Software people canโ€™t make this app workable by (almost) all phones that a lot of Seniors can afford !!!!!!! I believe that the โ€œTop Peopleโ€ at AARP might not be aware of this issue as almost all these software people have the latest and greatest phones and equipment afforded them by their 6 figure incomes. Iโ€™m not denying their worth but just their shortsightedness to older folks on fixed incomes.
I hope this message can work itโ€™s way to someone โ€œUp Topโ€ in AARP who can help us โ€œlittle peopleโ€ at the bottom of the I-Phone ladder.

How did you manage to create an account? I've wasted my time trying to see if the support team will get things fixed but it's just a waste of time. I tried to open a new aarp account but i was unable to play the instant wins after joining the Aarp Rewards Program. Did it work for you?

considering that aarp now allows anyone age 18 and up to join they obviously are not catering only to seniors but to whomever is paying and if the 18 and up crowd is a major part of this program and everyone has a current phone then that is what they are targeting.

@BtW751689 , you are correct & the age 18+ members will have the latest versions. Yes, we have been put out to pasture.

You can blame whoever you want, but to be honest when I read you post 1st thing I thought was that you don't have enough memory/space to down load.

I know that new app's/sites and old products don't always mix.

As for the scam statement??????? I didn't see you ask for money.๐Ÿค”

Seriously? This looks like a scam in the works. Maybe I'm wrong but your newbie status 6/22 suggests otherwise.

No this is not a scam. I joined years ago and let membership lapse. I recently rejoined and I guess AARP is using my original date. No biggy to me but if you didnโ€™t know that I can see your doubt. But to call it a scam ? A scam is something that usually profits the initiator. What profit would this complaint profit anyone ?
