Hereโs a happy dose of nostalgia; "Petticoat" is a quirky throwback to a post World War II, Norman Rockwell era. The story takes place in small town America back in the day of Woolworths, Petticoats and going to "the Social". 14 year old Mary Rene Quarles (Rene rhymes with Irene) inhabits the character with her vocal and video performance in โPetticoatโ! "Petticoat" is written by Rex Fowler of the iconic 1970s folk duo Aztec Two-Step and Grammy nominated songwriter/producer Jayne Olderman. Click here to enjoy PETTICOAT
The "Petticoat" cover artwork features Mary Rene as "The Girl" in our homage to Norman Rockwell's painting "Girl At The Mirror". Interesting factoid about "Girl At The Mirror"; after it appeared in The Saturday Evening Post; Rockwell felt he had made a mistake by including the magazine featuring sexy movie star Jane Russell in his painting. In our Petticoat artwork; instead of a picture of a movie star we used "that letter...Uh huh, the one that Mama wrote". It is actually a letter written to Jayne from her Mom about her early life.
We hope you enjoy this little trip back in time!
