Hello everyone!

Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Patty, I am 55, unemployed, a full time caregiver of a type 1 diabetic. I am so frustrated with medical anything! We have been waiting for approval for a pump for the last 4 months all because authorization issues, codes, etc. It just very frustrating to have to wait so long for something that he needed asap! I have not worked since 2022 and I cannot get any financial help to care for my boyfriend, I just do not understand how things work and need some guidance.

Hello everyone.  I;m new to AARP.  I'm looking forward to this being a good experience.   Almost ready to retire.   Starting to look into Medicare and Supplements.   Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Post your medical concerns over on the AARP Medicare and Insurance Board if you want any feed back from others - but you may need to give more details like the type of insurance your BF has -

Financial help comes from your state mostly - again more details would have to be known to help you - is the person declared disabled?  Either SSDI or SSI?

Medicaid is available for those who are eligible.

So details needed would be:

  • state
  • type of income benefit - if any, SSDI or SSI
  • type of medical coverage - public or private and type -

Docs are the ones that have to issue an authorization request with the [whatever] insurance and give the details of what and why.

If you have not worked since 2022, how are you and the BF supporting yourself?

IT‘S ALWAYS SOMETHING . . . . .. . . .
