Volunteer Opportunities

I have had the honor and opportunity to serve as a Public Member on several credentialing bodies in the US.

Public Members are defined as someone who is not a member of the profession that the body credentials, (such as doctors, nurses, financial planners, etc.), but brings a public prospective to the field where the credentialed professionals work, such as having received a service from a credentialed professional. The role of the Public Member is to represent the interests and concerns of the public rather than simply advocating and/or promoting the interests of the credentialed professionals.

I believe AARP members would be excellent Public Members on various credentialing bodies and wonder if AARP would consider partnering with the Institute for Credentialing Excellence and/or other similar bodies to promote Public Member opportunities to the AARP membership.
