Syncing Fitbit with aarp rewards.

I’d had an issue with aarp not syncing my Fitbit, even though Fitbit still said aarp could see my data.

over a month ago, I chatted and asked them to open a ticket for this. I was told someone would get back to me the next week. It’s been over a month- not a word from aarp about my issue.

i’d hoped that with the updates just made to aarp rewards that maybe this would have been fixed.

no, it still doesn’t work

i click on sync a fitness tracker, select Fitbit & then click on the login to Fitbit button and nothing happens other than the login to Fitbit button turns white.

if I click on any of the other tracker choices, something happens .

when will you fix the syncing for Fitbit?

@js22   Thanks for reaching out! I'm sorry you weren't contacted, but the issues with fitness trackers have been resolved. Make sure you're using the latest iOS version 4.0.6 and the latest app version 4.0.8. A wearable tracker will be more accurate than a smartphone. To verify how to sync a fitness tracker and troubleshoot your brand, go to: https://aarp.info/3emKZ8q Let me know if there's anything I can help with!  Jodee R.

my AARP Now app is up to date, even though I usually use your website to attempt to sync my Fitbit. I did attempt to use the app to sync my Fitbit but it brings up the login for fitness tracker screen and the. Goes back to the previous screen where it shows: “AARP Rewards is currently experiencing intermittent technical issues. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience as we work on a resolution.”

i have noticed that since the AARP rewards update earlier this month that we no longer get  AARP member bonus points  for anything 😢

most of my points used to come from my fitness tracker, but I haven’t gotten them in months.

last time I unauthorized AARP access from my fitness tracker, I was never able to sync my Fitbit again with AARP.

when I am on the website and click on the ‘sync my tracker’  it shows me the brands I can sync with. I select Fitbit & click the login button and nothing happens. If I click on any off the other brands, something does happen(I had tried them all a while ago).  So somehow the interface from AARP to login to Fitbit isn’t working.

sounds like a lot of,other people are also having this issue.

sure hope AARP can fix this soon.

So yesterday after being unsuccessful a. Number of times, I was finally able to sync my Fitbit to aarp. AND I got points from my Fitbit showing in the transactions.

today- no points. Ok, so I figure maybe they just didn’t credit yet. But I did check ‘’earn points’  and instead of saying manage your tracker’ it says ‘sync a fitness tracker’ .

so I am back to where I was in October. I had to go to fitbit settings, revoke AARP  access to my fitbit data. And now I tried to sync the Fitbit with AARP again, and I get this message “

Oops! There was an issue with your tracker sync/desync

Please try to sync/desync your tracker again so that you can get points awarded for your fitness activities.”

and yes Fitbit once again showed aarp had access to Fitbit data, so once again I revoked it.

i have repeated this a number of times and get the same error message every single time.

when will there be a solution for this? You had stated that it was fixed and yesterday I would have agreed with you, but today no points and error message when trying to sync.

It is 2/5 today. My last phone call to aarp tech rep was 1/20, my chat with Fitbit tech was 1/22 (With digital records).  Same syn/reward points issue! Fitbit stated that no problem on their end. My aarp account synced, yet not reward point since 9/10/2024. I suspect the problem is with google! !! Somehow, no digital communication between Fitbit , after google tookover, and aarp account. Do not know what to do next since I did EVERYTHING aarp instructed.

It is March now. The problem between Fitbit and aarp reward has been going on almost six months! I guess AARP gave it up to solve the problem also.

I have had this same or similar issues with AARP now recognizing my fitbit Charge 6 steps. This has been an issue for months. I've twice been told by AARP to remove or reset the app, then reconnect it to my AARP account. And it still doesn't accurately track my Fitbit data. I suggest that the AARP people do more than tell us to remove and reinstall and reconnect. I've done that and IT DOES NOT WORK!!

I’ve been having the same issues with syncing the data of my Fitbit to the AARP  site. Please be aware that I communicated with the Fitbit support team, and they can confirm that my Fitbit is connected to AARP and that it should be able to sync data. I was able to sync only one time, leading me to believe that the problem is emanating from your platform.
You guys provide very useful information, but navigating through your AARP Now app is a very frustrating endeavor. Please communicate to your tech team/app developers that there are many problems with the app, this one being just one of them. There’s no point in offering such good information, incentives, and rewards if it continues to be nearly impossible to access these app perks due to the many technical problems we’re currently experiencing. Please help!

I agreed! Same problem never resolved at the aarp now app. Someone works for aarp tech should try using Fitbit him/her self and really know about what we have been talking … Giving different links is meaningless help since we only reach out after we failed EVERYTHING. I am so disappointed!

Thank you, Brandon C!

The newest development, unfortunately, is the app still not working. I recently purchased a new iPhone 16. I deleted all my aarp app and reinstalled it on new iPhone, along with my Fitbit. All reset. Two days passed. Not a signal step was recorded. Not sure what to do next.

Thank you! Anyway I can contact someone in aarp directly, via email or phone or whatever, so I can get some help? I did EVERYTHING there is  that has mentioned in this community arena. How much patience one could have to solve this? It has been over three months! I am not walking for the sake of points but just love to do it, my average daily steps 15K. How much points that would be….

@et2001 I'm really sorry you've been through this, and I'm here to make sure we sort it out together. I understand that when you try to add your Fitbit to your account, nothing happens when you click "Login to Fitbit" and that button turns white. Have you had an opportunity to try to add the Fitbit using another device or via the AARP Now app instead? Check out the info here: https://aarp.info/3emKZ8q. The login page for Fitbit opens in a new browser window, you may have pop up blockers that are stopping you from seeing this login. Also, you may want to try clearing your browsers cookies to get back on track: https://aarp.info/2I3wo4C. I'm always here to help!  - Janelle M.

it seems that just because you sync your Fitbit from aarp rewards, that doesn’t mean it will stay synced.

this morning on my aarp rewards it stated ‘manage your Fitbit’. This evening it states ‘sync your device’(something like that. In order to be able to sync my Fitbit again, I have to go to the Fitbit app, click on  your profile pic in upper right corner, click on your data in Fitbit, scroll down & click on manage connected apps, scroll down until you see AARP    Rewards by AARP

click on the Revoke access button. Then exit out of the Fitbit app.

i usually logout of AARP and re-login since otherwise I seem to get an oops message when I sync.

now you can go to aarp rewards again, select Earn & click on sync your device.

I am having to do this once or twice a day. Sometimes my steps credit, sometimes they don’t. After I went thru all the steps above to resync my Fitbit with AARP rewards, I did get today’s steps credited today.

Another day, same issues. AARP & my Fitbit were connected in the morning, but this evening, aarp had lost that sync. Once again I had to go into Fitbit settings and revoke access to aarp, log out of aarp, log back in to aarp, select earn and then sync a tracker. My points did credit for today’s steps. So frustrating that I have to do this everyday.

@js22  That's too bad that you're having trouble keeping your Fitbit synced. I'm happy to hear that you are being credited the points though. Double-check that your device has Bluetooth on and open the Fitbit app. If it still didn't sync, restart your phone. Go to Fitbit Support for more help: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1866/. You will leave the AARP Help website and go to a website that is not operated by AARP. A different privacy policy and terms of service will apply. Please let me know if I can help!  Jodee R.
