Every time I open my mail box it’s the same thing, I open my emails and the same thing. Well I gotta it figure this way.
1) less than a week after the election, I received the email that the membership was going up after 16 years.
2) During COVID I lost my insurance through AARP to New York Life that I had been paying for for over 5 years, I was laid off and the checks didn’t come through right away and the checks then stopped and started again and I was dropped.
3) Next a person with a criminal record and 34 additional counts of crimes gets elected and not one freaking word for or from these starving seniors.
So now look at the funds that you are asking for and how they are to be used. It takes what 30 to 40 cents on the dollar to provide a nutritious meal at the most 50 cents on the dollar.
As a retired Executive Chef one of my task was
to provide meals to over 300 residents everyday, this did not include special events or events hosted by us that we provided the food for. I allocated 3 to 5,000.00 a week primary for the staple items, 400.00 to 600.00 a week for produce, 2,000.00 a month for ice cream and desserts that we didn’t cook.
I ran and operated 6 different kitchens off of this money. I ran and operated a nonprofit feeding program that fed over 300 people every Saturday in cooperation with the Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean County.
I have done my part. I gave from my heart, my wallet, my time and effort for over 30 years the message has been the same, by the same people with the same message.
AARP should look in the mirror for another message, look to your elected leaders for a new solution. Because if a person can have 34 criminal charges, have almost 1 billion in fines, and restitution owed to courts, and defendants and the message has not changed.!!!!!!!!!!!
As a retired food service professional that amount of money would feed a hell of a lot of seniors, kids and families. So send that bill to Washington DC 16 Pennsylvania Ave. seems like everyone else is lining up to pay his bills, buy bibles, sneakers and any other crap that gets promoted.
@chacat Interesting take on an election or is it more about action/inaction of AARP? AARP claims they are non-partisan.
You don't mention the fact that the DNC candidate ran though more than $1 Million in 12 weeks of her campaign and still left bills unpaid while the other candidate left monies in the RNC campaign budget.
The candidate (with 'issues' as you claim) won a FAIR election by THE PEOPLE (both by popular AND electoral college vote).
