AARP Hearing Center
I have an Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ tablet that I have loaded the AARP Now app on because I enjoy viewing with a larger screen than the one on my phone. I also like viewing in landscape mode. I have a keyboard that attaches to my tablet because I do not care for "on-screen' keyboards due to a trembling condition I have with my hands. That is to say, I always view my tablet in landscape mode. Unfortunately, the AARP Now app for Android does not support landscape mode, leastwise not on an Android tablet, About 4 months ago I called AARP Support Center and explained this problem. The person I spoke with walked me through the basics (ie, was screen rotation on my tablet enabled, etc.). She insisted that it worked as she tried it on her tablet and told me she could view the online AARP magazines in landscape on her iPad. Apparently she did not know that an iPad runs on Apple IOS and Samsung tablets run on Android, I explained to her that she really needed an Android tablet to experience the problem I am having. I asked her fo forward my issue to software development folks and please inform me when the AARP Now app was updated with a fix for the issue I am having, I know that as an alternative I can use a web browser, but I shouldn't have to do that. The app should rotate just like other apps do when screen rotation is enabled. Please FIX the AARP Now app! Thank you.

Hello Brandon,
I know that it has been months since I wrote about this issue (AARP's Support of Android is Poor), but it still has not been fixed. Possibly you think this is a low-level issue, but it is very difficult for my wife, who is also an AARP member. I read AARP magazine on my PC, so I read through a browser and not the AARP Now app. My wife uses a Samsung Android tablet with an attachable keyboard(not screen keys), so she needs landscape capability from all the apps she uses. Unfortunately, ARRP Now has no landscape viewing capability. AARP Now is the only app that doesn't. It needs to reference some screen position(landscape and portrait) variables in the Android code is my guess. The work around we have is to use a browser on the tablet. I prefer you fix the missing screen references in the code, or outright warn AARP members that have Android devices that they can't use the AARP Now app in landscape mode.
Thank You.
Mark
