What is Mr. Runner X?

 is a game of speed and strategy where you pilot a stick figure through a maze of falling ceilings.

What is the goal of the game?

To get to the end of each level, avoiding being crushed by the falling ceilings. You have three tries to make it to the end.

If I lose one of my three hearts, is it game over?

No. You have three hearts in each level. If you get crushed and lose one, you’ll pick up right where you left off.

If I lose all three of my hearts, is it game over?

Yes… except, when you lose all three hearts, a button in the middle of the screen will pop up. It will have a heart in it. Click the button before the timer runs out and watch an ad to get an extra heart and continue the level.

How do I play?

The controls in Mr. Runner X are simple. Just click or tap on the right side of the screen (or use the right arrow key) to move faster, and click or tap on the left side of the screen (or use the left arrow key) to slow Mr. Runner X down. The ceiling will start shaking a moment before it drops. When that happens, try to find a divot in the ground to hide in.

What are the plus and minus signs that show up on the screen?

When you speed Mr. Runner X up, a plus sign will appear in the bottom right of the screen. When you slow him down, a minus sign will appear in the bottom left of the screen. Some power ups will change the look of these signs, such as a stop sign instead of a minus sign – but more on power ups below.

What happens at the end of a level?

When you get to the end of the level, you’ll be able to collect coins on the floor. You can use those coins to buy new characters.

How do power ups work in Mr. Runner X?

Mr. Runner X can be a tough game. As you play more and more levels, the space to hide from the falling ceiling decreases. That’s why power ups are so important! You can access a power up before each level begins. From the main menu screen, click on the yellow box with the question mark that says “power up.” You’ll need to watch an ad, and afterward, you will have access to a random power up for the upcoming level.

Some of the power ups include:

• Additional hearts
• Automatically highlighted “crush zones” to avoid
• “Sticky gears” that increase the time before ceiling drops
• And much more!

Also, keep an eye out for a box in the middle of the screen right as you finish a level that shows a “2x” multiplier. Click or tap that before the timer runs out and watch an ad to double the coins you earn for beating that level!

Where are power ups shown?

When you have a power up active, its icon will be visible at the top left of the screen.

How can I change the look of my character in Mr. Runner X?

In Mr. Runner X, you start as a simple stick figure – but there are all sorts of variations of your character that you can run with. (We love the panda, pig, and globe-headed man!) To change your appearance, just click or tap the box with the changing stick figures on the right side of the screen in the main menu. It will have a number out of 27 – that’s how many you’ve unlocked.

When you click the box, you’ll see the characters you have available. Some will be available and some will be locked. Below the character, you can see how to unlock it. Some will be made available if you click it to watch an ad. Some require coins, which you get for beating a level. And some have a distance listed below them – you need to run that distance, cumulatively, to automatically unlock the character.

Can I turn the sound off?

Yes. On the main menu, there is a speaker icon in the top left that you can toggle on and off.

Can I pause the game?

Yes. While running, at the top left of the screen is a pause button that pauses and resumes the game.
